The political landscape is buzzing as Democrats seize upon newly released FBI documents that connect President Donald Trump to the late, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These documents, including emails where Epstein allegedly discussed Trump’s knowledge of his crimes, have fueled calls for the full release of Epstein’s FBI files. However, the White House is pushing back, labeling the revelations as a “fake narrative” and a “manufactured hoax” by Democrats.
Democrats argue that the latest batch of emails provides further justification for transparency. U.S. Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., whose motion led to the subpoena of these Epstein files, stated, “When we passed my motion to subpoena the Epstein files, we knew we’d find damning information. Today we learned Trump is alleged to have personal knowledge of Epstein’s crimes & spent hours with victims.” Lee believes this is all the more reason to release the complete FBI files.
Accusations of Cover-Up and Deflection
Ken Martin, chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), accused Trump of lying about his relationship with Epstein and suggested his administration withheld information. “Trump is lying about his relationship with Epstein, and his Department of Justice withheld information about Epstein’s crimes. So the question is, why is Trump protecting a convicted sex offender instead of pursuing justice for the victims of Epstein’s crimes — and why does he keep lying to the American people?” Martin questioned.
Echoing these sentiments, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., demanded full transparency, stating, “The public deserves to know who enabled Epstein, who looked the other way, and who’s still being protected. Survivors have waited long enough. Release the Epstein files NOW.”
White House Response: ‘Manufactured Hoax’
President Trump himself took to Truth Social, accusing Democrats of using the Epstein case to “deflect on how badly they’ve done on the [government] Shutdown.” He urged Republicans to focus on reopening the country rather than getting sidetracked by the Epstein revelations. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed this sentiment during a press briefing, stating, “These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong.”
Leavitt reiterated that Trump’s friendship with Epstein ended years ago due to a falling out, emphasizing that Epstein was a member at Mar-a-Lago only until Trump “kicked him out.” She also criticized Democrats for redacting the name of a victim, identified as Virginia Giuffre, who has publicly stated Trump was not involved in Epstein’s criminal acts. Leavitt concluded that the entire situation is a “manufactured hoax by the Democrat Party.”
