Trump Slams Candace Owens as ‘Low IQ’

It seems like Donald Trump is back to his old habits, and this time, Candace Owens is in his crosshairs. The former president unleashed a fiery Truth Social post Friday evening, not only calling the conservative host “low IQ” but also accusing her of exploiting wealthy men for her own benefit.

Trump declared, “Candace Owens’ stock, which was never very high, has fallen a long way.” This public jab comes after Owens, once a prominent figure in the MAGA movement, has reportedly distanced herself from Trump and his agenda. The attack also specifically targeted Owens’ controversial statements about Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France.

Attacks on Brigitte Macron and ‘Low IQ’ Insult

Owens has repeatedly made unfounded accusations that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman. Trump, who considers French President Emmanuel Macron a friend and ally, called Owens’ attack “despicable.” He then added, “I believe, in this case, without verification, she is an extremely Low IQ individual!” This insult, often directed at Black women, has drawn significant criticism.

The post was accompanied by a doctored TIME magazine cover featuring an unflattering image of Owens. The fake cover included inflammatory blurbs such as “Candace Owens Lies, Lies, Lies,” “Uses Rich Men,” and “0% Fact Check Ratio On All Credible Fact Checking Sites.”

Criticism of Trump’s Tactics

Reactions to Trump’s post were swift. Brandon Weathersby, a spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century, criticized Trump’s actions, stating, “Trump is back doing one of his favorite things, taking cheap shots at Black women instead of showing an ounce of seriousness about the job he was elected to do.”

Weathersby added that while he disagrees with Owens’ values and her attacks on Brigitte Macron, he recognizes this as a familiar pattern from Trump. He pointed out that while Trump is focused on these personal attacks, his constituents are struggling with everyday issues like rent and groceries, highlighting Trump’s perceived misplaced priorities.

A History of ‘Low IQ’ Attacks

This isn’t the first time Trump has used the “low IQ” insult against perceived political opponents, and notably, many of these attacks have targeted Black women. Just days before targeting Owens, he used the same term against U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, a distinguished Harvard graduate and the first Black woman on the court.

The list of Black women Trump has attacked with this insult also includes U.S. Representatives Jasmine Crockett and Maxine Waters, as well as former Representative Ilhan Omar and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Minutes after his post about Owens, he also directed the “low IQ” label at U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives.

Trump’s ongoing use of personal insults and inflammatory rhetoric, particularly against women of color, continues to be a defining characteristic of his public discourse, often overshadowing substantive policy discussions.
