Kim Kardashian Criticizes ICE Raids, DHS Responds

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to using her voice for causes she believes in, and her latest stance is no exception. While being honored at the DVF Awards in Venice, the reality star and advocate spoke out against the Trump administration’s ICE raids, criticizing their impact on immigrants.

Kardashian’s Concerns About ICE Raids

During her speech on August 28th, Kardashian, who has been a vocal proponent of prison reform, expressed her concerns about how the media portrays these raids. She stated, “In the news you hear, ‘Oh, it’s about people who have committed these crimes and they’re trying to help out our country.’ But then you hear about all of the people who have worked so hard to build our country, and so many people that are such a part of our country getting affected. People I know. People my friends know.”

Her comments suggested a belief that the raids disproportionately affect hardworking individuals who are integral to the fabric of the country, not just those with criminal records.

Homeland Security’s Rebuttal

The White House was quick to respond to Kardashian’s remarks. Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin issued a statement to TMZ, calling Kardashian “misinformed” and “detached” from the realities of the operations. McLaughlin defended the ICE raids, asserting that they specifically target violent criminals, including murderers, rapists, gang members, and child predators.

“Why does Ms. Kardashian continue to do the bidding of criminals at the expense of innocent Americans and brave law enforcement?” McLaughlin questioned in her response, highlighting the administration’s perspective on the matter.
