Disturbing details have emerged from a frantic 911 call placed by rapper Desiigner on the same night he was arrested for domestic violence charges in South Carolina. Newly released audio reveals the rapper, whose legal name is Sidney Selby III, in a state of extreme distress, making alarming claims to dispatchers.
Allegations of Car Theft and Suicidal Thoughts
In the recording, Desiigner can be heard telling dispatchers that a woman, reportedly the mother of his child, was allegedly trying to steal his car while their young son was with her. “She’s trying to do grand theft auto on my car,” he stated. “She has my son, I need my son.” The “Panda” rapper sounded visibly upset, repeatedly arguing about car keys and expressing a belief that “somebody put something bad in my weed.”
The situation took an even more concerning turn as Desiigner admitted to struggling emotionally and experiencing suicidal thoughts during the call. The dispatcher also inquired about a weapon after the rapper revealed he had an Airsoft gun with him “just to have one.” At one point, Desiigner was heard repeatedly saying, “Go k*ll yourself,” and expressing a wish for the woman’s death.
Conflicting Accounts from the Incident
Desiigner claimed the woman “bothers him every day” and asserted he had evidence from surveillance cameras. However, police reports offer a different perspective. According to officers, the woman alleged that the argument between her and Desiigner turned physical. She claimed he forcibly took the car keys, tearing her sweatpants, and threw her to the ground when she tried to prevent him from putting their child in a car seat. Officers noted minor scratches on her arm and back.
Following the incident, Desiigner was released on a $1,500 bond. This is not the rapper’s first brush with the law. In April 2023, he pleaded guilty to indecent exposure on a Delta flight and was ordered to complete community service and probation. Earlier incidents include a 2016 road rage arrest in New York, where initial charges of weapon and drug possession were eventually dismissed.
A Pattern of Legal Issues
Desiigner’s legal history includes a 2023 guilty plea for indecent exposure on a flight, resulting in community service and probation. Prior to that, in 2016, he was arrested in New York following a road rage incident. While initially accused of possessing a loaded weapon and drugs, those charges were ultimately dismissed, with his attorneys stating he was “exonerated.”
