Well, it looks like rapper Desiigner is in some hot water down in South Carolina. The artist, whose real name is Sidney Royel Selby III, was recently arrested and charged with a misdemeanor domestic violence offense. This news comes after an alleged incident at his home near Conway.
What Allegedly Happened?
According to police records, the 28-year-old artist was taken into custody on March 23rd in Horry County. The incident itself reportedly took place on March 2nd. Authorities were called to his residence following a domestic disturbance report. A woman involved told officers that Selby arrived home upset and threw his keys down. When she picked them up, he allegedly grabbed them from her pocket, causing her clothing to tear.
The situation reportedly escalated further when Selby allegedly threw the woman to the ground near the front door. She reported minor scratch marks on her arm and lower back. She also mentioned having video evidence of the altercation, though she couldn’t access it at the time of the police report. Selby had already left the residence by the time officers arrived on the scene.
The Charge and Past Legal Issues
Following the incident, the case was presented to a judge, who approved a charge of third-degree domestic violence. This isn’t the first time Desiigner has had a brush with the law. Back in 2023, he faced charges after an incident involving indecent exposure on a flight. At the time, he expressed shame and took responsibility for his actions.
As of now, Selby has not made any public statements regarding this recent arrest. He was released on a $1,500 bond after being taken into custody.
