Well, this is awkward. Sean “Diddy” Combs, who recently promised a judge he was committed to a sober life, has reportedly been caught with homemade alcohol while serving time at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. This alleged incident directly contradicts the emotional letter he submitted to the court seeking leniency before his sentencing.
A Sober Promise, A Boozy Bust?
Reports surfaced shortly after Diddy’s 56th birthday on November 4th, suggesting he was found with a fermented concoction made from Fanta, sugar, and apples. Inmates reportedly allow about two weeks for such brews to ferment. Diddy, who was transferred to Fort Dix from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in late October, could now face internal disciplinary action for this alleged violation.
Just before his sentencing, Diddy penned a heartfelt letter to the judge, stating he was “sober for the first time in 25 years” and vowed to maintain that sobriety. He described his incarceration as a “spiritual reset” and expressed pride in his hard work towards becoming a “drug-free, non-violent, and peaceful person.”
Legal Battles and Prison Life
Diddy was arrested in September 2024 and later found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, though acquitted of more serious charges like racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He received a sentence of four years and two months. Despite maintaining his innocence, his legal team fought for leniency, with Diddy concluding his letter by asking for “another chance to be a better father, another chance to be a better son, another chance to be a better leader in my community, and another chance to live a better life.”
His transfer to FCI Fort Dix, a low-security facility, was seen as a significant improvement, offering a less regimented environment compared to his previous detention center. While initial reports suggested he might be moved to a different unit, prison officials have reportedly reversed that decision, allowing him to remain where he is. However, this alleged drinking incident could still jeopardize his good behavior status, which is crucial for any potential early release, currently scheduled for May 8, 2028.
