Did Ice Spice really get into a fight at a McDonald’s, or was it all for show? Radio personality Ebro Darden is leaning towards the latter, suggesting the viral video of the rapper being slapped might have been staged for promotional purposes.
Questions About Security and Staging
During a recent episode of The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show, Darden voiced his suspicions. He questioned why Ice Spice would be in a Hollywood McDonald’s without visible security. “So Ice Spice just sits in a Hollywood McDonald’s without security?” he asked his co-host, Laura Styles, after she recapped the altercation.
When Styles suggested that security would have intervened if present, Darden found the lack of response suspicious. “That’s also kind of what made me feel like this might be, kind of promo, too,” he admitted. “Y’all know I be looking for promo. Ice Spice needs promo right now. I feel like it was wrestling.”
A Calculated Move?
Darden further speculated that the woman involved in the altercation might have even known Ice Spice beforehand. “Y’all believe in that? I’m not buying it,” he stated, expressing his skepticism about the authenticity of the incident. The video itself showed a woman approaching Ice Spice, asking if they were “ready to shake a–” before the situation escalated into a physical fight.
Despite Darden’s suspicions, Ice Spice’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, confirmed that the incident had been reported to the LAPD. “The unprovoked attack on my client has been reported to the LAPD,” Cohen stated. “We will be pursuing any and all avenues to hold the perpetrators responsible for their actions, including criminally and civilly.”
