Ye’s Poland Concert Canceled Amid Antisemitism Backlash

It seems Ye’s European tour is hitting more bumps in the road. Following a string of controversies, his scheduled summer performance in Poland has officially been canceled. Officials cited concerns over his past antisemitic remarks and other problematic statements as the reason for pulling the plug.

Poland Pulls the Plug on Ye’s Concert

The rapper, also known as Kanye West, was slated to perform on June 19, 2026, at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów. However, stadium director Adam Strzyzewski announced on Facebook that the event would not proceed. The official statement cited ‘formal and legal reasons’ for the cancellation, according to Reuters.

Strong Opposition to the Performance

The decision received strong backing from Polish Culture Minister Marta Cienkowska. She declared the planned concert unacceptable, highlighting Ye’s history of public antisemitic statements, downplaying crimes, and even selling swastika-emblazoned merchandise. Cienkowska emphasized that such actions go beyond mere ‘controversy’ and represent a deliberate spread of hatred.

In a country scarred by the history of the Holocaust, we cannot pretend that this is just entertainment. Artistic freedom does not mean giving a free pass to everything. Culture cannot be a space for those who exploit it to spread hatred. — Marta Cienkowska, Polish Culture Minister

Her statement powerfully underscored the sensitivity of the issue, particularly in a nation with such a profound historical connection to the Holocaust. She stressed that artistic freedom does not grant immunity for promoting hate speech.

More Tour Disruptions

This cancellation in Poland isn’t an isolated incident. It follows another recent disruption to Ye’s European plans. His concert scheduled for June 11 in Marseille, France, was also postponed ‘until further notice.’ Ye himself stated it was his ‘sole decision’ to postpone the Marseille show, adding that he understood it takes time to recognize his commitment to making amends.

Despite these setbacks, Ye still has several international performances scheduled for later in 2026. Upcoming stops are planned in India, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands. It remains to be seen if these dates will proceed as planned.
