Floyd Mayweather Faces $7.3M Tax Lien

Undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is reportedly facing mounting financial challenges, with the IRS recently filing a substantial tax lien against him. This latest development adds to ongoing reports of financial difficulties for the famed athlete and entrepreneur.

A Multi-Million Dollar Tax Lien

According to Business Insider, the IRS filed a $7.3 million tax lien against Mayweather for unpaid taxes spanning the years 2018 and 2023. The lien, lodged in Las Vegas last month, indicates the balance remained unpaid as of March 2026. While Mayweather has not yet publicly addressed the lien, it surfaces amid other reports of financial strain.

These reports include foreclosures on two commercial properties and the potential loss of a Las Vegas building housing his strip club due to unpaid taxes. Mayweather has also been involved in lawsuits alleging unpaid bills for luxury items, such as high-end watches and jewelry.

Selling Assets and Pursuing Exhibition Bouts

In an effort to mitigate these financial pressures, Mayweather has reportedly sold off several assets. These include his private jet, famously known as ‘Air Mayweather,’ and mansions in Beverly Hills and Miami, which were sold to real estate partners. He appears to be actively working to recoup losses and generate new income streams, particularly through high-profile exhibition bouts.

Adding to his busy schedule, Mayweather sued Showtime for $340 million in February, alleging misappropriated funds related to a 2013 pay-per-view deal—a claim the network denies. Despite leaving professional boxing in 2017, he is slated for an exhibition match against Mike Tyson in April and a professional fight against Manny Pacquiao in September at the Las Vegas Sphere.

Ongoing Financial Disputes

Further fueling speculation about Mayweather’s finances, Logan Paul recently accused the boxer of owing him a substantial sum from their 2021 fight. Paul claims a dispute arose from a side deal Mayweather allegedly arranged before securing a U.S. promoter, suggesting their combined star power led to an eight-figure payment from an international partner. Paul asserts his contract guaranteed him 15% of a $10 million deal, which he has yet to receive and doubts he will get amid Mayweather’s current legal battles.

This $7.3 million tax lien is significant. What are your thoughts on Floyd Mayweather’s financial situation? Do you think his exhibition fights will be enough to resolve these issues? Share your opinions in the comments below!
