There’s a narrative out there that Meek Mill’s career hasn’t been the same since his infamous beef with Drake back in 2015. But Meek is here to set the record straight, and his bank account is doing most of the talking. He’s revealed just how much he’s raked in since that highly publicized feud.
The Philly rapper took to the comments section of Loren LoRosa’s Instagram post to respond directly to Charlamagne Tha God, who has often discussed Meek’s career trajectory. Meek didn’t just brush off the criticism; he delivered a powerful financial flex.
A Decade of Dominance: The Numbers
The beef, which kicked off after their collaboration on “R.I.C.O.,” saw Drake accuse Meek of using ghostwriters. This led to a series of diss tracks, most notably Drake’s “Back To Back,” which many felt was the decisive blow. However, Meek’s response suggests the opposite.
“You spoke like a battle ended me,” Meek stated, directly addressing Charlamagne. “Made like 80m since then still counting like 2ms on the schedule this month all rap money not counting other deals.” That’s a staggering $80 million earned in roughly a decade, proving his relevance and business acumen.
Pushing Back Against the Narrative
Meek didn’t stop at just the dollar amount. He also fired back at Charlamagne’s perceived authority, stating, “We cut from 2 different Worlds. He’s not qualified from working at no radio station to downplay my brand on these big platforms.” He also highlighted his numerous platinum plaques, listing recent projects like “Peta” and “Blue Notes 1 and 2” as evidence of his ongoing musical success.
He even dropped a new freestyle, showcasing that his creative fire is still burning bright. This financial and artistic defense comes amidst ongoing discussions about his career, including a recent moment where he posted about being on LinkedIn, which led to online jokes.
Charlamagne’s Perspective
Interestingly, Charlamagne Tha God acknowledged that while he respects Meek and his contributions to his community and the city of Philadelphia (especially his work with Reform), he believes Meek hasn’t fully recovered from the Drake beef on a social media level. Charlamagne suggested Meek should have focused solely on music and avoided online interactions that often turn into jokes.
He agreed that the ‘propaganda’ against Meek is strange and originated from that battle, noting that the social media narrative around him hasn’t truly recovered. Despite this, Meek’s financial success clearly demonstrates that the public perception on social media doesn’t always reflect real-world achievements.
