Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke was arrested on Wednesday, April 1, in Arkansas, facing multiple charges including speeding and drug possession. The news comes as Clarke has been largely sidelined this 2025-26 season due to injuries.
Details of the Arrest
According to The Associated Press, Clarke, 29, was charged with improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, exceeding the speed limit, and trafficking a controlled substance. He was booked into the Cross County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon.
Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo acknowledged the report but declined to comment further. “I’m aware of the report, but don’t have any comments,” Iisalo stated before the team’s game against the New York Knicks.
Season Hampered by Injuries
Clarke, who was drafted by the Grizzlies in 2019, has had a challenging season marked by injuries. He suffered a significant knee injury last season and a right calf strain in December, limiting his playing time to just two games this season. The team officially announced on March 24 that he would not play any further games as he focused on rehabilitation.
The Grizzlies PR department provided updates on Clarke’s injury status, noting that recent imaging indicated a need for additional healing before he could be cleared for high-intensity court work. Over his seven seasons with the team, Clarke has averaged 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, but has only been available for 72 games in the last three seasons due to health issues.
