It seems like Meek Mill isn’t taking kindly to recent comments about his career trajectory. On his podcast “Brilliant Idiots,” Charlamagne Tha God suggested that Meek Mill’s career never fully recovered after his high-profile rap battle with Drake. Well, Meek has a fiery response, and he’s not afraid to set the record straight!
Meek Mill’s Platinum Comeback
Taking to Instagram on April 1st, Meek Mill didn’t hold back, listing a string of his post-feud achievements. He pointed out several platinum and triple-platinum projects, including “Dreams Worth More Than Money,” “Phora,” and “Blue Notes 1 and 2.” He also highlighted collaborations with legends like Jay-Z and Cardi B, emphasizing their platinum status.
Meek clearly feels Charlamagne’s assessment is way off the mark. He even suggested that Charlamagne might have switched allegiances, implying that Drake helped fuel the narrative that Meek was finished. “I’m good with Drake and Jay-Z as far as I know… keep me out this weak a** sh*t,” Meek stated, asserting his current standing.
Beyond the Music: Business Ventures
It’s not just about the music for Meek. He also pointed out the numerous “tech deals” he’s secured, largely thanks to his active presence on Twitter/X. This highlights his continued relevance and business acumen in the evolving landscape of entertainment and technology.
Meek also didn’t shy away from addressing Charlamagne’s comments directly, questioning his perspective and even making some pointed remarks about his own journey. He emphasized his roots as a “trench baby” who earned his success through “blood, sweat, and tears,” expressing frustration at feeling “blackballed” at times but ultimately asserting his “savage” determination to achieve his goals.
Acknowledging Community Impact
Despite the heated exchange, Charlamagne did offer some praise for Meek Mill. He acknowledged Meek’s significant contributions to his community and his role as a symbol for Philadelphia, particularly highlighting his work with the Reform Alliance. Charlamagne suggested that perhaps Meek should have focused solely on flooding the streets with music rather than engaging in online debates.
