Kathleen Bradley, the first full-time Black model on the show, described the work environment as hostile. She claims that while fans sometimes wrote negative comments about her presence, racial slurs were allegedly used by staff when models weren’t around. This hostile atmosphere reportedly continued even after Claudia Jordan joined the program a decade later.

Claims of Racist Undertones and Remarks

Claudia Jordan specifically alleges that contestant selection had a racist undertone, claiming it was a “direct order from Bob Barker” to limit the number of Black contestants per taping. Another former model, Holly Hallstrom, alleges that Barker expressed severe discomfort with interracial relationships, reportedly making a deeply offensive remark about Black men.

Further fueling these claims is a resurfaced clip, highlighted by The Hollywood Reporter, showing Barker appearing to back away from a Black contestant who was attempting to hug him. These allegations, though surfacing years after Barker’s passing in August 2023, are gaining renewed attention thanks to social media and the “Dirty Rotten Scandals” docuseries.
