  • Bob Barker’s Alleged Racist Remarks Surface in New Docuseries

Bob Barker was a household name, celebrated for his smooth hosting on “The Price Is Right” and his passionate advocacy for animal rights. For decades, he was seen as a beloved TV icon. However, a new E! docuseries, “Dirty Rotten Scandals,” is bringing to light disturbing allegations that suggest a darker side to the cherished personality, including claims of racism and a toxic work environment.

    Allegations from Former Employees

The docuseries dedicates two episodes to “The Price Is Right,” focusing on long-rumored toxic workplace operations, discrimination, and harassment. Former employees, including some of the show’s models known as “Barker’s Beauties,” have come forward to share their alleged experiences. These accounts paint a starkly different picture of the show’s behind-the-scenes atmosphere.

Kathleen Bradley, the first full-time Black model on the show, described the work environment as hostile. She claims that while fans sometimes wrote negative comments about her presence, racial slurs were allegedly used by staff when models weren’t around. This hostile atmosphere reportedly continued even after Claudia Jordan joined the program a decade later.

Claims of Racist Undertones and Remarks

Claudia Jordan specifically alleges that contestant selection had a racist undertone, claiming it was a “direct order from Bob Barker” to limit the number of Black contestants per taping. Another former model, Holly Hallstrom, alleges that Barker expressed severe discomfort with interracial relationships, reportedly making a deeply offensive remark about Black men.

Further fueling these claims is a resurfaced clip, highlighted by The Hollywood Reporter, showing Barker appearing to back away from a Black contestant who was attempting to hug him. These allegations, though surfacing years after Barker’s passing in August 2023, are gaining renewed attention thanks to social media and the “Dirty Rotten Scandals” docuseries.

    A Legacy Re-examined

While Bob Barker was widely admired for his on-screen persona and his dedication to animal welfare, these recent revelations prompt a re-examination of his legacy. The docuseries aims to uncover the complex truths behind the polished image, offering a platform for those who experienced alleged discrimination and a toxic workplace during his tenure.

  • Black Models Allege Racism on ‘The Price Is Right’

A new docuseries is shedding light on disturbing allegations of racism behind the scenes of the beloved game show, “The Price Is Right.” Former Black models who worked on the show during Bob Barker’s time as host are speaking out, describing experiences of “raging” racism from fans, producers, and even Barker himself.

    Allegations from Former Models

Kathleen Bradley, the first full-time Black model on the show, shared that she received negative fan mail specifically targeting her race. She also revealed that the N-word was used in production meetings when Black models weren’t present. “I think people should know the truth—the good, the bad, and the ugly,” Bradley stated.

Claudia Jordan, who succeeded Bradley as a “Barker’s Beauty,” echoed these sentiments. She claims producer Phil Wayne made racially charged remarks and engaged in sexual harassment. Jordan recalled comments like, “Let’s make a reverse Oreo, Claudia, you get in the middle of the two white models,” and being called the “ass model” based on racial stereotypes.

    Racism Among Contestants and Host

The alleged bias wasn’t limited to staff. Jordan described a “darker side” where producers allegedly leaned into negative stereotypes when selecting contestants. She claimed there was a limit of two Black contestants at a time, with cards marked to indicate their race, an order she attributed to Barker. She also recalled Barker appearing to distance himself from Black contestants who attempted to hug him.

Another former model, Holly Hallstrom, recounted an incident where Barker allegedly made disparaging remarks about Black men being “the most diseased people on Earth,” contributing to tensions with co-star Dian Parkinson, who had dated Black celebrities. Hallstrom noted that such comments weren’t surprising given Barker’s background.

    Denials and Legacy

Bob Barker, who hosted “The Price Is Right” from 1972 until his retirement in 2007 and passed away in 2023, is remembered by many as a beloved television icon. In response to the docuseries’ claims, Barker’s longtime representative, Roger Neal, denied all allegations of sexual misconduct and racism. “Barker was and is beloved, and people to this day love him,” Neal stated. “He was part of the fabric of American pop culture.”

These allegations raise serious questions about the entertainment industry’s past. What are your thoughts on the claims made by the former models? Share your perspective in the comments below.
