Biggie’s Estate Manager Denies Diddy Funeral Cost Claim

A new documentary is stirring up controversy by making serious allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs regarding the funeral of The Notorious B.I.G. However, Biggie’s estate manager is stepping forward to strongly deny these claims, stating that “Bad Boy and Diddy paid for everything.”

Allegations from ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’

The documentary, executive produced by 50 Cent, reportedly features claims from Kirk Burrowes, a co-founder of Bad Boy Records. Burrowes alleges that after Biggie Smalls’ tragic murder in March 1997, Diddy learned of the high cost of the funeral and decided to charge the entire expense back to Biggie’s estate. Burrowes claimed Diddy wanted to make the funeral appear as a personal expense, masking it as a recoupable charge to Biggie posthumously.

The documentary suggests that Diddy allegedly tried to alter Biggie’s recording contract posthumously to make terms more favorable for Bad Boy Records, without the knowledge of Biggie’s family. Burrowes claims he refused to go along with this and was subsequently fired by Diddy a few months later. Further allegations include Diddy supposedly taking a 1997 Rolling Stone cover opportunity that was initially intended for Biggie, advocating for himself instead to promote his debut album, ‘No Way Out.’

Estate Manager’s Rebuttal

Wayne Barrow, who managed Biggie’s estate alongside his mother, Ms. Voletta Wallace, and was a close friend of the rapper, has directly refuted these claims. Speaking to The Breakfast Club’s Loren LoRosa, Barrow stated that the allegations presented in the documentary are “inaccurate.”

Barrow, who officiated and helped plan Biggie’s funeral along with Kirk Burrowes and Bad Boy staff, asserted that Bad Boy Records and Diddy covered all the costs. He confirmed that there was never any indication on Biggie’s royalty statements reflecting funeral expenses. Barrow and Ms. Wallace meticulously reviewed every royalty statement together until her passing, and funeral costs never appeared.

  • The Notorious B.I.G.’s estate manager, Wayne Barrow, denies claims made in a new documentary.
  • The documentary alleged Diddy used Biggie’s money to pay for his own funeral.
  • Barrow states that Bad Boy Records and Diddy paid for all funeral expenses.
  • He confirmed that no funeral costs were ever reflected in Biggie’s royalty statements.

Regarding contract renegotiations before Biggie’s passing, Barrow also stated there were no such disputes at the time, noting that “Life After Death” had been recouped. While Barrow couldn’t speak extensively on the Rolling Stone cover story drama, he mentioned he was unaware of any Rolling Stone cover being presented to Biggie’s team prior to his death.

This denial from Biggie’s estate manager directly challenges the narrative presented in the documentary, offering a different perspective on the financial dealings following the rapper’s untimely death.
