Berklee Honors Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole with Scholarship

Get ready to be inspired! Berklee College of Music is keeping the legendary music legacies of Nat King Cole and his daughter Natalie Cole alive with the launch of a brand-new scholarship. This incredible initiative aims to support aspiring musicians and celebrate the profound impact these artists have had on the world.

On November 25, 2025, Berklee proudly announced the very first recipient of the Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole Scholarship Fund: Paris Pineyro. A talented second-year student, Pineyro is pursuing a dual focus in music business/management and performance, showing incredible promise.

A Generous Investment in Future Talent

This substantial $75,000 prize is a collaborative effort, presented in partnership with the Natalie Cole Foundation and the Nat King Cole Generation of Hope. The scholarship was established to honor what would have been Natalie Cole’s 75th birthday and to commemorate the lasting influence of both artists.

Nat King Cole, a trailblazer who shattered racial barriers with his smooth voice and iconic career, passed away in 1965. His daughter, Natalie Cole, followed in his footsteps, forging her own celebrated path in music before her passing in 2015.

A Student’s Journey to ‘Unforgettable’

Paris Dior Pineyro, who goes by the artist name Paris Dior, shared her heartfelt reaction. She described the scholarship as the culmination of “every late night, every struggle, and every moment I pushed through my doubts.” Quoting the iconic artists themselves, she added that “even when the path feels impossible, perseverance can lead to something truly ‘unforgettable.’”

Pineyro expressed immense gratitude to the foundations for their belief in her and their investment in her artistic journey. It’s clear this scholarship is more than just financial aid; it’s a powerful validation of her hard work and dedication.

The Cole Family’s Vision

Casey and Timolin Cole, Natalie Cole’s twin sisters and Nat King Cole’s daughters, shared their excitement. They highlighted Berklee as a place where young artists discover their voices, making the scholarship particularly meaningful. They see this partnership as a way to uphold their father and sister’s shared belief in music’s power to educate, uplift, and unite.

By supporting Berklee students, the scholarship is directly investing in the next generation of musicians, educators, and leaders who will carry forward the enduring legacy of the Cole family. It’s a beautiful way to ensure their music and message continue to inspire for years to come.
