In today’s digital landscape, a cybersecurity breach can cripple a business. Recognizing this, cybersecurity and risk management expert Angel Mosley has launched an innovative AI-powered simulation platform designed to train leaders on how to navigate these high-stakes cyber business crises. It’s like a fire drill for your company’s digital assets!
From Jackson State to Cybersecurity Pioneer
Mosley’s journey into cybersecurity began during her time at Jackson State University. Initially drawn by the promise of high starting salaries for computer science graduates, she quickly discovered a passion for the field. After graduating in 1994, she gained hands-on experience, from connecting cables to working in bank computer rooms, eventually transitioning into compliance and IT auditing.
A pivotal moment came with the introduction of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Learning how to secure systems and implement controls to prevent corporate malfeasance, like that seen at Enron and MCI, solidified her path into cybersecurity. The goal was clear: ensure the company had the right safeguards in place to avoid legal repercussions.
Founding CyBase Risk Management
After over two decades in IT and cybersecurity, Mosley took the leap into entrepreneurship, founding CyBase Risk Management in 2024. Her inspiration struck after reading about Lincoln College, a struggling institution that permanently shut down following a ransomware attack it couldn’t recover from. This fueled her mission to help organizations, particularly small to medium-sized businesses in high-risk sectors like healthcare, finance, and education, that may lack adequate resources.
Introducing CyFireAI: The AI Simulation Platform
The flagship product from CyBase is CyFireAI, an AI-powered platform that uses realistic breach scenarios to train leaders and their teams. It ensures that all departments—finance, PR, HR, and legal—are aligned and ready to respond swiftly and effectively during a cyber crisis. Before team exercises, participants even complete personalized quizzes to tailor simulations to their specific roles and company culture.
Mosley, who spent 10 years as an incident response commander, identified critical gaps in how cyber threats are typically handled. These include the misconception that IT can manage all aspects of a crisis alone, a lack of legal readiness with on-call attorneys, and insufficient cybersecurity insurance. CyFireAI aims to bridge these knowledge gaps by simulating a wide range of scenarios.
Bridging Gaps and Building Resilience
The platform identifies critical vulnerabilities, provides performance feedback on communication, compliance, and containment, and generates an industry-compliant incident response plan. Mosley then works with clients to translate these recommendations into actionable project plans, often partnering with managed service providers for technical implementation and insurance brokers to enhance cyber resilience.
Currently in its pilot phase, CyFireAI is seeking partnerships with 10 companies. This innovative approach by Angel Mosley is set to revolutionize how organizations prepare for and respond to the ever-evolving threat of cyber business crises.
