The rap world is currently captivated by the intense feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and veteran artist Ja Rule has weighed in on the situation. While Ja Rule has navigated his own share of rap battles throughout his extensive career, he believes Drake doesn’t need any advice from him on how to handle this particular beef.
Drake Doesn’t Need My Advice, Says Ja Rule
During a recent appearance on the “7PM in Brooklyn” podcast with Carmelo Anthony, Ja Rule was asked what advice he’d offer Drake amidst the ongoing conflict. His response was straightforward: why would he need to advise Drake? He even playfully suggested he might offer advice to Kendrick instead.
“Why I gotta advise Drake?” Ja Rule asked. “Drake don’t need no advice. Drake is rich, got a big a** plane. Have you seen his plane? What we talking about Drake for, man? That n***a chilling, man.” His comments highlight Drake’s seemingly comfortable position, suggesting he’s well-equipped to handle the situation without external guidance.
A History of Rap Beef
Despite his assessment of Drake’s current situation, Ja Rule is no stranger to rap beef himself. He’s famously been in a long-standing feud with 50 Cent for decades, and the animosity clearly still simmers. Just this past July, Ja Rule took to X (formerly Twitter) to playfully shade his rival by bragging about his tour earnings.
He posted a montage of his performances, writing, “Imagine trying to clown someone currently on tour making 6 figures a show you n****s cooked… @50cent take notes like you been doing this what a REAL performer looks like… lmao.” This jab followed earlier instances where Ja Rule mocked 50 Cent over rumors of discounted tickets for his “Legacy” tour. 50 Cent, in turn, responded with his own digs, questioning Ja Rule’s ability to recognize a loss.
Reflecting on the Game
Ja Rule’s perspective offers a unique insight into the dynamics of rap feuds, both past and present. While he acknowledges the intensity of the current Drake-Kendrick situation, his focus remains on his own experiences and his belief that artists like Drake are often more resilient than perceived.
