Antonio Brown Extradited for Attempted Murder Charge

Former NFL player Antonio Brown is now in U.S. custody, having been extradited from Dubai to face a serious charge: second-degree attempted murder with a firearm. This charge stems from an incident that occurred in Miami back in May.

From Dubai to New Jersey

According to police reports, U.S. Marshals took Brown into custody in Dubai and subsequently transported him to the Essex County Correctional Facility in New Jersey on Thursday, November 6. He is expected to be transferred to Miami to face trial for the alleged crime.

The Miami Police Department identified Brown as the alleged shooter after a thorough investigation, which included collaboration with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals. An arrest warrant was issued in June following a May 17 incident that reportedly took place after a celebrity boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross.

The Incident and Brown’s Response

Footage circulating online from the event seemed to capture Brown in an altercation before he ran towards a group of people, reportedly holding an object. A sound resembling gunfire was heard, and witnesses indicated Brown had a gun. Brown was initially detained but released the same night, as authorities could not locate a victim at the time.

Following the incident, Brown addressed it on a Kick livestream with Adin Ross, claiming he was attacked by multiple individuals and suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). He also stated on social media that he was not arrested and was released after presenting his side of the story.

A History of Legal Troubles

This is not the first time Antonio Brown has faced legal challenges. His history includes a 2019 lawsuit for sexual assault by his former trainer, Britney Taylor, who accused him of multiple assaults. Brown denied these claims and counter-sued, eventually reaching a settlement in 2021.

He also faced an eight-game suspension from the NFL in 2020 for violating the personal conduct policy after an altercation with a moving truck driver. More recently, in 2023, he was briefly arrested for failure to pay child support but was released after posting bond. Brown played nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and also had stints with the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl with the latter before leaving the league.
