After nearly four-and-a-half months on the run, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been apprehended. U.S. Marshals have taken Brown into custody and extradited him back to the United States to face serious charges stemming from an incident in Miami.
Facing Second-Degree Murder Charge
Brown was reportedly in hiding in the United Arab Emirates to avoid a warrant for his arrest in Miami-Dade County. He is wanted for second-degree murder with a deadly weapon. The charges are connected to a shooting incident that occurred in Miami back in mid-May.
Miami police spokesperson Mike Vega confirmed the apprehension, stating, “Miami Police confirm that U.S. Marshals have apprehended Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the U.S.” While he has been brought back to the U.S., a specific date for his transfer to Miami-Dade County has not yet been set. Reports indicate he was extradited from Dubai to the New York metropolitan area.
Details of the Alleged Shooting
The incident reportedly took place outside a boxing event organized by Adin Ross. Initially, Brown claimed on social media that he was jumped by multiple individuals attempting to steal his jewelry and cause him harm. He stated that police had only temporarily detained him for his side of the story before releasing him, denying any arrest.
However, the narrative shifted when Zül-Qarnain Nantambu emerged as the alleged victim. According to Nantambu’s account, Brown was involved in a dispute with him over allegedly stolen jewelry, an incident that also reportedly occurred in Dubai. This alleged dispute is believed to be the root of the charges Brown now faces.
