Just a couple of months after welcoming her third child, Rihanna has made her highly anticipated return to the spotlight! The music and fashion mogul stepped out for the 2025 CFDA Awards on Monday, November 3rd, marking her first public appearance since giving birth to her daughter in September.

A ‘Postpartum-Forward’ Fashion Moment

Naturally, Rihanna’s return was a fashion moment. Supporting her partner, A$AP Rocky, who was being honored with the prestigious Fashion Icon award, Rihanna described her ensemble as a “postpartum-forward look.” She opted for a timeless and effortless Alaïa creation from the spring/summer 2026 collection: a floor-length black trench coat paired with white pants and classic heels.

The event, held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, saw the couple posing together on the white carpet. A$AP Rocky complemented Rihanna’s look with his own stylish Chanel suit, a butter yellow V-neck sweater, and cream-colored Chanel shoes with black tips.

This year’s CFDA Awards held special significance as A$AP Rocky received the Fashion Icon award, an honor previously bestowed upon Rihanna herself in 2014. Back then, she made waves in an unforgettable Adam Selman gown adorned with over 216,000 Swarovski crystals.

Now, it was Rocky’s turn to be celebrated, and Rihanna was right there by his side. Since becoming a father in 2022, Rocky, who now shares sons RZA and Riot, and daughter Rocki with Rihanna, has spoken about how fatherhood has influenced his style. He described his current “dad style” as more focused, moving away from “absurd outfits” towards a more “quiet luxury” aesthetic.

Family and Future Plans

Rocky revealed his intention to save his clothes for his children, ensuring his archives will be accessible for them. Despite welcoming their third child just months ago, Rocky playfully hinted at future family expansion after his win, joking to cameras, “Might be baby number four tonight! Nah, I’m joking.”

During the ceremony, Condé Nast’s chief content officer Anna Wintour welcomed Rocky into the CFDA family, acknowledging his role as a “devoted father” and highlighting the importance of family to him. Rocky, in his acceptance speech, thanked his team and gave a special shout-out to Rihanna, saying, “And look, we did it, baby!” He also alluded to personal challenges, mentioning “trials and tribulations” he’s overcome this year, possibly referencing his felony assault trial.
