Even as Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs begins his prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix, his legal battles are far from over. A previously filed assault lawsuit by Bryana Bongolan, a close friend of Cassie Ventura, has been amended and is adding to the mogul’s mounting legal filings.
Details of the Amended Lawsuit
Bongolan initially accused Diddy of assaulting her around September 26, 2016. The lawsuit alleges that Diddy held her over a 17th-floor balcony, groped her, and threw her into patio furniture. Bongolan, who testified against Diddy during his federal trial this past summer, described experiencing night terrors, paranoia, and physical pain, including bruises and neck pain, as a result of the alleged attack.
The recent amendment to the lawsuit addresses uncertainty about the exact date of the incident, now stating it occurred “in or about September 2016.” This adjustment comes as Diddy’s defense team presented evidence suggesting he was at the Trump International Hotel in New York from September 24 to September 29, 2016. The amended suit also includes a crucial addition: a text exchange between Cassie Ventura and Diddy’s former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, dated September 30, 2016.
New Evidence and Legal Proceedings
The text message, purportedly sent by Ventura to Khorram, details Diddy’s alleged actions: “He came into my house while my friends were here, and we were all sleeping. They woke me up. He was ringing the bell crazy at 3 a m. And when he came in, I went to my room, and he went to [Bongolan] and choked her, then dangled her feet off of the balcony.” This exchange could potentially bolster Bongolan’s argument.
The revised lawsuit names several corporate defendants, including Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. Los Angeles County Judge Mark H. Epstein has scheduled a follow-up hearing for January 22. While the judge noted that Diddy might no longer be incarcerated by the time of the trial, Diddy is currently serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix, with a projected release date of May 8, 2028.
