NBA YoungBoy’s recent tour stop in his hometown of New Orleans took an intense turn over the weekend. A video capturing the rapper being swarmed by a massive crowd of fans has gone viral, highlighting the passionate, and sometimes overwhelming, nature of his fanbase.
Viral Video Shows Intense Fan Encounter
The footage shows NBA YoungBoy navigating the streets of New Orleans, seemingly without significant security presence. Almost immediately, he’s surrounded by a throng of enthusiastic fans eager to get close to the artist. The situation quickly escalated, requiring police officers to step in and escort him away from the overwhelming crowd.
The incident has sparked a wide range of reactions online. Some fans expressed concern, urging the rapper to be more cautious and maintain better security, with one user on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “He’s getting too comfy and cocky. He should always be on guard.” Others felt it was understandable given his roots, with a commenter noting, “That’s where he from he should be able to do that.”
Increased Police Presence for Concerts
In anticipation of the excitement surrounding NBA YoungBoy’s concerts, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has implemented increased security measures. NOPD Chief Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier informed WWL-TV that the enforcement plan includes walking beats, mounted patrols, bicycles, tactical units, drones, an armored vehicle, and high-visibility patrols throughout downtown and the French Quarter.
Both of NBA YoungBoy’s shows at the Smoothie King Center, which has a capacity of over 14,000, were reportedly sold out. Public safety has been a significant concern, especially after a fan at a recent Kansas show was charged with felony assault for striking a venue employee.
The ‘Make America Slime Again Tour’
These New Orleans performances are part of NBA YoungBoy’s ongoing “Make America Slime Again Tour.” The tour, which kicked off in September and runs through November, supports his eighth studio album, ‘MASA.’ The album, released in July, features artists like Playboi Carti and Mellow Rackz and debuted at No. 6 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Supporting acts on the tour include DeeBaby, K3, Lil Dump, NoCap, Offset, and Toosii.
