Fans who attended Brandy’s recent Chicago concert, part of her co-headlining tour with Monica, were left confused when the show ended abruptly. Now, the Grammy-winning singer is offering an explanation, citing health concerns and technical difficulties as the reasons for the premature curtain call.
Health Concerns Lead to Stage Exit
The incident occurred on October 18th during the show at the United Center. Mid-performance, Brandy paused, telling the audience, “Give me one second, y’all, I gotta get my…,” before leaving the stage. While Monica returned to perform a shortened set, the concert concluded without the highly anticipated duet, “The Boy Is Mine.”
Brandy took to social media to apologize to her Chicago fans, explaining that after weeks of intense rehearsals, she experienced severe dehydration and felt faint. “Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance,” she stated in her post.
Technical Difficulties Impacted Performance
Even after attempting to return to the stage, Brandy realized that the show’s technical aspects and necessary adjustments made it impossible to deliver the quality performance fans deserved. “Unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production,” she explained, expressing appreciation for the crew’s efforts.
This tour marks Brandy’s first U.S. concerts since 2009, and this particular stop was only the third date. Despite the health scare, Brandy assured fans that she sought medical attention and is taking precautions to ensure she can continue the tour.

The R&B star also extended her thanks to her co-headliner, Monica, for her professionalism and grace in handling the situation. “I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism and the entire crew for their continued care and support,” Brandy shared.
Looking ahead, Brandy expressed her eagerness to get back on stage, stating, “I look forward to returning to the stage — stronger and more grateful than ever — alongside my girl, Monica, Sunday night in Indianapolis.” Her message conveyed a commitment to her fans and the continuation of the tour.
