Katt Williams Now Dr. Williams: Honorary Doctorate!

Hold up, did you hear? Comedian Katt Williams has officially joined the ranks of scholars! He was recently awarded an honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Miles College, making him ‘Dr. Williams’ from now on. This incredible honor was bestowed upon him at a ceremony in Alabama on October 18th.

A Well-Deserved Recognition

During his acceptance speech, Williams expressed his gratitude, stating, “In a very short period of time, no one could deserve this more than me. It was going to take a mighty fine institution to recognize that.” He also touched on how the joy he brings to his audience is intertwined with the college’s name, saying, “those smiles that I sell for a living — those have Miles right in the middle of it.”

This recognition comes at an exciting time for Williams, who is also making significant moves in Alabama. He’s in the process of building his own film studio in Anniston, aiming to create opportunities for aspiring filmmakers and creatives.

Partnership with Miles College

Williams’ new film studio venture is set to involve a collaboration with Miles College. Chuck Faush, the college’s chief innovation and growth officer, highlighted how this partnership aligns with President Knight’s vision to integrate AI across the institution. “Specifically, aligning with his studio development and plan in Anniston creates career ladders and provides real-world learning for our student entrepreneurs,” Faush explained.

This initiative promises to offer invaluable hands-on experience for students, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application in the film industry. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to learn directly from industry professionals and gain exposure to real film sets.

A New Chapter for Dr. Williams

Fellow comedian Mark Curry was also present at the ceremony, celebrating Williams’ achievement. This honorary doctorate marks a significant milestone, acknowledging not only Williams’ impact on entertainment but also his commitment to fostering future talent and innovation.
