Kamala Harris Calls Biden’s Reelection ‘Reckless’

In a candid new memoir, former Vice President Kamala Harris is shedding light on the internal dynamics of the Biden administration, particularly regarding Joe Biden’s decision to run for reelection in 2024. Her new book, ‘107 Days,’ reveals a surprising perspective, labeling the campaign’s pursuit of a second term as ‘recklessness.’

A ‘Reckless’ Decision?

Harris writes that the decision for Biden to seek another term was presented as a joint choice by him and Jill Biden, a mantra repeated by those around them. However, in retrospect, Harris states, ‘I think it was recklessness.’ She elaborates that the stakes were too high for such a decision to be based on personal ambition or ego, suggesting it should have been a more considered choice.

This revelation highlights potential divisions within the Democratic party and raises questions about concerns over Biden’s age. Harris admits she pondered whether she should have advised Biden against running during the months of ‘growing panic’ but feared it would be perceived as ‘naked ambition’ or ‘poisonous disloyalty.’

Concerns About Age and Loyalty

The memoir doesn’t shy away from addressing Biden’s age, noting that ‘At 81, Joe got tired,’ which manifested in ‘physical and verbal stumbles.’ However, Harris clarifies that she doesn’t believe he was incapacitated, stating, ‘If I believed that, I would have said so.’ Her loyalty, she asserts, is first to the country, then to President Biden.

Struggles Within the Administration

Beyond the reelection bid, Harris also details her struggles with Biden’s inner circle. She felt that the president’s associates contributed to the intense scrutiny of her vice presidency and seemed content with negative narratives surrounding her. She specifically criticizes the White House communications team for not adequately defending her against right-wing attacks, particularly concerning her role in addressing migration at the southern border.

Furthermore, Harris claims that the administration rarely highlighted her actual qualifications when she faced criticism on personal matters, such as her laugh, tone of voice, or past relationships. She even suggests that some of the president’s staff may have actively fueled negative stories about her.

As Biden has not yet publicly commented on these revelations, Harris’s memoir is poised to spark significant discussion about the inner workings of the administration and the dynamics between key political figures. The book is set to be released later this month.
