  • Livingstons’ Atlanta Home: A Hub for Community

Imagine a home that’s more than just four walls – a place that actively fosters connection, welcomes loved ones, and even reaches out to the world. For Tawian and Quincy Livingston, their Atlanta residence, affectionately known as ‘The Black Estate,’ is exactly that. They’ve poured 17 years of their lives into creating a space that’s not only beautiful but also a vibrant hub for community and family.

    A Home Built with Intention

From the moment you step inside their Craftsman-style home, you can feel the warmth. Every element has been thoughtfully chosen, from Quincy’s grandmother’s cherished piano gracing the dining room to the unique mementos collected from their global adventures. It’s a space designed to make everyone feel instantly at home, a testament to their dedication as hosts.

The Livingstons understand that reliable technology plays a key role in keeping people connected. With seamless WiFi coverage throughout their home, they can effortlessly host gatherings and stay in touch with their community, ensuring no important moment is ever missed. As Quincy puts it, ‘People come here and they really feel at home.’

The Kitchen: The True Heart of the Home

If there’s one room that truly embodies the spirit of their home, it’s the kitchen. Tawian shares that they spend about 75% of their time right there, calling it the ‘heart’ of their home. It’s where friends and family naturally gravitate, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and good food.

Picture this: Quincy is in his element, whipping up a delicious meal, while Tawian expertly crafts the drinks. The kids are nearby, playing in their dedicated playroom, and the whole family is simply relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. It’s these moments that make their kitchen so special.

A Home That Grows with the Family

Over the 17 years they’ve lived there, the Livingston home has evolved alongside their growing family. What was once a guest room is now their son’s sanctuary, and Quincy’s former ‘man cave’ has been transformed into their daughter’s personal space. They’ve even added a beautiful master suite, complete with a serene courtyard entrance, creating a private retreat within their bustling home.

Adding to the home’s versatility, they’ve incorporated an in-law suite that they use as a short-term rental. This not only allows them to welcome guests from all over the globe but also serves as a wonderful source of income. Quincy notes how this feature has truly helped ‘bring our community together’ and ‘connect us with the whole world.’

  • The Livingstons: Redefining Black Homeownership

In the premiere episode of ‘The Black Estate,’ we’re introduced to Quincy and Tawian Livingston, an inspiring Atlanta couple who are not just homeowners but are actively redefining what Black homeownership looks like. Their journey is a beautiful testament to love, intention, and building a lasting legacy.

    Finding ‘The One’

Married for 17 years and raising two children, Quincy and Tawian have created a vibrant home filled with love, laughter, and constant hosting. “We’re always hosting,” Quincy shares. “Breaking bread, that’s one of the most communal things you can do with one another.” Their home is the central hub for family gatherings, work, school projects, and entertainment, kept seamlessly connected thanks to Xfinity WiFi.

The moment they first saw their house, both Quincy and Tawian felt an undeniable connection. “As soon as I stepped foot here, I said, ‘You know, I think I’ll stay a while.’ It just was a good feeling that I had,” Quincy recalls. Owning their first home together has been an eye-opening experience, often requiring them to forge their own path without a clear template.

    A Sanctuary Built on Intention

Quincy, who is also a realtor, reflects on the historical significance of Black homeownership. “At one point, African Americans weren’t even allowed to own property—so I take that charge every day selling real estate and how fortunate we are to be in the time that we are in.” They’ve intentionally designed their home to be a safe haven for their children, who have known no other place to live. “This home is the first and only home that they’ve ever known,” Quincy says. “This is their safe space.”

    Staying Connected Through Life’s Changes

Reliable WiFi has been crucial, especially during the pandemic. Quincy highlights how he was able to transform their home into a functional office, juggling work with childcare. Tawian, a doctor, also relies heavily on their home’s connectivity for everything from assisting their children with schoolwork to managing patient communications.

    Inspiring Others Through Their Journey

More than just a house, the Livingstons are building a legacy. Their family’s story serves as powerful proof of what is attainable. “We walk the walk every day, hoping to inspire others and let them know that this is possible,” Quincy states. Tawian adds, “Sometimes people need to see people like you, and people who look like you. This is attainable—marriage, children, having a house, just living a good life.”
