  • Ranking Every Air Jordan in Knicks Colors

The New York Knicks boast one of the most recognizable and beloved color schemes in professional sports. That iconic orange and blue combination has graced countless sneakers, but not all renditions are created equal. Jordan Brand has dipped into the Knicks palette numerous times, resulting in everything from all-time classics to forgettable relics of their time. Today, we’re diving deep to rank every Air Jordan ever made in those signature Knicks colors, from the bottom of the roster to the undisputed champion.

The Bottom of the Barrel: Melo’s Early Models

Kicking off our list are some of Carmelo Anthony’s earlier signature shoes. The Air Jordan Melo M9, released in 2013, features a straightforward royal blue upper with orange laces and a navy toe cap. While it fits the Knicks theme, the shoe itself is bulky and very much a product of its era, holding it back from higher praise.

Just above it sits the Air Jordan Melo M7 Advance ‘Knicks Away.’ This updated version of Melo’s seventh signature shoe leans into the away-game aesthetic with a dominant royal blue upper, black collar, and white outsole. The subtle orange Jumpman adds a touch of Knicks flair without being overwhelming. It ranks slightly higher due to a cleaner silhouette than the M9.

Spike Lee’s Artistic Takes and Lifestyle Models

Spike Lee, a legendary Knicks fan, has also had his signature models feature the team’s colors. The Air Jordan Spike Forty PE ‘Total Orange’ flips the traditional color balance, with orange dominating the upper and purple replacing the usual blue. It’s a loud, artistic statement that reflects Spike’s unique style but deviates from a classic Knicks look.

The Air Jordan 1 Flight, while built on AJ1 DNA, is a lifestyle shoe that stands on its own. This Knicks colorway features a royal blue nylon upper with a white leather base and orange accents. It’s a solid execution of the colors, but the silhouette itself places it below the more revered retro models.

    Hybrid Silhouettes and Underrated Gems

The Air Jordan Son of Mars Low ‘Knicks’ is a hybrid that cleverly blends several classic Air Jordans. Its aggressive orange upper with royal blue elephant print on the midsole makes a bold statement. This colorway is a strong argument for the often-underrated Son of Mars silhouette.

Another underrated gem is the Air Jordan Legacy 312 ‘Knicks.’ This model combines elements from the AJ3, AJ11, and AJ15. Instead of a blue or white base, it opts for black suede, using royal blue and orange as accents. This more restrained approach makes it a unique and interesting take on the Knicks palette.

The Classics Get the Knicks Treatment

When the most important sneaker ever made, the Air Jordan 1, gets the Knicks treatment, expectations are high. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Knicks’ features a royal blue base with orange overlays. While it gets close, the orange leans slightly too red, preventing it from reaching the top tier. Still, it’s a strong contender.

The Air Jordan 5 Retro Low ‘Knicks’ is a sleeper hit. Its deep royal blue suede upper is complemented by striking orange shark teeth on the midsole. The low profile adds wearability, making it a versatile option that captures the Knicks spirit effectively.

Looking ahead, the upcoming Air Jordan 8 ‘Knicks’ (releasing December 2026) is already generating buzz. Its all-black upper is an unusual choice for a Knicks shoe, but the vibrant blue and orange swirl graphic on the midsole is a showstopper. This unique design has the potential to become a standout.

Spizikes, City Packs, and the Top Tier

Spike Lee’s signature Jordan silhouette, the Spizike, gets two Knicks colorways. The ‘Knicks’ Blue version uses deep royal blue suede with subtle orange accents, offering a more grounded take. The ‘Knicks’ Orange version, however, is bolder, with an all-orange upper and an icy blue outsole – a confident choice that perfectly suits the Knicks’ vibrant identity.

The Air Jordan 10 OG ‘New York’ from 1995 is a foundational piece. Part of the early City Pack, it features a clean white upper with a black collar and midsole, and royal blue accents. Notably lacking orange, its restrained confidence and historical significance make it a timeless classic.

The Undisputed Champion: Air Jordan 3

And the winner is… the Air Jordan 3 ‘New York Knicks.’ Widely regarded as one of the greatest sneakers ever, the AJ3 is perfectly suited for the Knicks palette. The white tumbled leather, iconic elephant print, vibrant orange midsole, and royal blue accents are all placed flawlessly. It’s a testament to Tinker Hatfield’s 1988 design that it still looks so fresh, and putting the Knicks colors on it in 2019 felt like destiny. This colorway gets everything exactly right, making it the ultimate Knicks Jordan.

  • Nike Reopens SoHo Flagship Store

Get ready, sneakerheads! Nike is officially making its triumphant return to SoHo with a brand-new flagship store. After being displaced from its original location, the sportswear giant is planting its flag firmly back in one of New York City’s most iconic retail hubs.

    A New Home on Broadway

Mark your calendars for April 16th, 2026, because that’s the grand opening date for Nike’s new flagship at 611 Broadway. This prime location places the store directly across the street from rival Adidas, in the former temporary space of Kith. This strategic move ensures Nike remains a major player in a neighborhood renowned for its sneaker and streetwear culture.

The original Nike SoHo store, a massive 55,000-square-foot space spread across five floors at 529 Broadway, officially closed its doors on January 10, 2026. The building was purchased by IKEA for a hefty $213 million, prompting Nike’s search for a new home within the competitive SoHo landscape.

    Raising the Stakes in SoHo

Nike’s SoHo stores have always been more than just places to shop; they’ve been experiential destinations. While the exact scale of the new 611 Broadway location remains to be seen, the brand’s return sends a clear message. Its presence directly opposite Adidas intensifies the rivalry and excitement in this globally significant retail district.

SoHo, particularly the stretch of Broadway between Houston and Canal streets, is a mecca for sneaker and streetwear enthusiasts. The closure of the previous Nike store left a noticeable void, and this new opening is poised to fill it, bringing back the energy and innovation the brand is known for. April 16th is shaping up to be a huge day for sneaker culture in NYC!

What This Means for Sneaker Culture

Nike’s commitment to a physical presence in SoHo underscores the enduring importance of brick-and-mortar retail, especially in key cultural hubs. The direct competition with Adidas on the same block is sure to spark new collaborations, exclusive releases, and innovative store experiences. It’s a win for consumers who thrive on the energy and competition of the sneaker world.

  • NYC Launches Free Child Care for City Workers

Big news for New York City’s municipal workers! In a significant move to support working parents, the city has officially launched its very first free, on-site child care program. This initiative is designed to help city employees with children as young as six weeks old, making a real difference in their daily lives.

A New Era for Early Childhood Care

Announced by Mayor Zohran Mamdani on March 30, 2026, this pilot program is a major step forward in expanding access to early childhood care. The new center, located within the David N. Dinkins Municipal Building in Lower Manhattan, is a spacious 4,000-square-foot facility ready to welcome up to 40 little ones.

Understanding the demands of working parents, the center will offer extended hours, staying open until 6 p.m., even through the summer. This thoughtful approach aims to ease the burden on parents juggling careers and family responsibilities.

    Building on Past Initiatives

Mayor Mamdani, who has championed universal child care, sees this pilot as a crucial first step. “Change begins at home,” he stated, emphasizing that public servants deserve accessible child care solutions. This program builds upon ideas first explored under former Mayor Eric Adams, initially focusing on employees within the Department of Citywide Administrative Services.

The current plan broadens eligibility to all municipal workers based in the Dinkins Building. With over 2,000 city employees working across various agencies in this central hub, it’s the perfect location to test and refine the program. Future plans could even extend this benefit to DCAS employees at multiple sites.

    Timeline and Future Potential

The renovation project is estimated to cost around $10 million, with completion anticipated by the fall. For those interested, applications are scheduled to open on April 30, with enrollment decisions expected in June. If this pilot proves successful, especially for infants and toddlers who require specialized care, it could pave the way for a citywide expansion.

  • Rama Duwaji: Art, Activism, and NYC’s New First Lady

As Zohran Mamdani steps into the role of New York City Mayor, his wife, Rama Duwaji, is also entering the spotlight as the city’s youngest First Lady. But Duwaji isn’t just a political spouse; she’s a formidable artist and activist who has been shaping culture long before her husband’s mayoral win. At 28, this Syrian American creative is redefining influence through her art.

An Artist with a Powerful Voice

Duwaji, who works as an artist, animator, and ceramicist, has developed a unique creative voice that is both deeply personal and politically charged. Her work often focuses on the experiences of Middle Eastern women and amplifies the Palestinian narrative. She uses her art as a powerful tool for storytelling and advocacy, exploring themes of sisterhood, identity, and cultural resilience.

Her artistic philosophy centers on using design to convey human stories, a principle that also guided her behind-the-scenes role in Mamdani’s campaign. Duwaji advised on social media strategy and helped craft the campaign’s branding, incorporating iconic New York City colors like Metrocard yellow and Mets blue. This quiet yet impactful influence mirrors her artistic approach.

From Texas to NYC: A Creative Journey

Born in Houston and raised between Texas and Dubai, Duwaji honed her artistic skills at Virginia Commonwealth University (BFA in Communication Arts) and the School of Visual Arts in New York (MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay). Her work has gained significant recognition, appearing in prestigious publications and institutions like Vogue, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, BBC, and Tate Modern.

With over 180,000 followers on Instagram, Duwaji shares expressive illustrations, insights into her workshops, and reflections on the connection between craft and care. One notable project for Vogue highlighted the often-unseen labor of New York’s garment workers, showcasing her commitment to shedding light on important social issues.

A New Era of Cultural Influence

Duwaji’s personal style is understated yet effortlessly cool, embodying her artistic ethos. Her approach to public life is refreshingly nontraditional, focusing on meaningful influence rather than constant high-profile appearances. • Zohran Mamdani Elected NYC’s Youngest Mayor

New York City has officially turned a new page in its political history! Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old Queens native, has been elected as the city’s new Democratic mayor, defeating Independent candidate Andrew Cuomo. This historic win makes Mamdani not only the youngest mayor in NYC history but also the city’s first Muslim mayor.

A Comeback Story for the Ages

Mamdani’s victory is a remarkable comeback story. He began his campaign with just 1% in the polls but, with over 2 million voters turning out—a record for a mayoral election since 1969—he managed to secure a win. His campaign focused on the cost of living and offered proposals aimed at benefiting low and middle-class New Yorkers, including a rent freeze, free public transportation, and universal childcare.

Speaking to cheering supporters at Brooklyn’s Paramount Theater, Mamdani thanked millennials and young New Yorkers for believing in a better future. As a Ugandan immigrant himself, he proudly celebrated the city’s diverse immigrant population, giving shoutouts to ‘Yemeni cab drivers and Mexican abuelas,’ delivery drivers, warehouse workers, and kitchen employees.

    Challenging Trump and Embracing Immigrants

Mamdani didn’t shy away from addressing President Donald Trump, who had openly threatened to withhold federal funding from NYC if Mamdani won. In his victory speech, Mamdani declared, ‘If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.’ He vowed to hold landlords accountable and end the culture of corruption that allows billionaires to exploit tax breaks.

Appearing on ‘Good Morning America,’ Mamdani further challenged Trump’s threats to deploy the National Guard, calling them tactics of intimidation rather than safety measures. He pointed out that Trump’s threats weren’t directed at the top 10 states with the highest crime rates, many of which are Republican-led.

Turning the Page on Old Politics

While wishing Andrew Cuomo well in his private life, Mamdani made it clear that his victory marks an end to politics that favor the few over the many. He celebrated his win in true New York fashion, dancing to Soca music with supporters, a sentiment echoed by many on social media who celebrated the historic election of a Muslim immigrant mayor.

  • Jesse Williams on ‘Hotel Costiera’ and Black Identity

Actor, activist, and former educator Jesse Williams is stepping into a new role as the lead in the Prime Video series ‘Hotel Costiera.’ Set against the picturesque backdrop of Positano, Italy, the six-episode series follows Williams as Daniel De Luca, a half-Italian ex-Marine with a mysterious past who solves problems for the elite clientele of Hotel Villa Costiera. Amidst tending to the guests’ extravagant needs, De Luca becomes entangled in a deeper mystery involving Alice, the hotel owner’s daughter, who finds herself in serious trouble.

    Challenging Perceptions of Black Existence

Williams expressed his passion for the project, highlighting not just the character’s intrigue and charm, but also his pride in participating in a story that challenges narrow perceptions of where and how Black people can exist and thrive. “We exist outside of America, and that seems like a simple statement, but we’re always told that we don’t, so that we don’t kind of belong,” Williams shared during an exclusive interview with MadameNoire. He acknowledged that Italy, like many places, has its own complex race relations, but found value in showcasing Black life beyond American borders.

While Williams noted that “Hotel Costiera” isn’t explicitly “the Blackest show,” he cherished the opportunity to connect with Black individuals from various parts of the diaspora during filming and travel throughout Europe. “You meet Black Germans, Black Italians, Black Spaniards who are born and raised there. They really are there. They speak the language. That’s their culture,” he explained. “Blackness does not always have to be demonstrated. Doesn’t have to be performed. I don’t care where you’re from; you’re still Black, and nobody can take that from you. There’s more diversity within the Black community than there is outside of it. This is a slice.”

    Balancing Activism with Lightness

Williams, known for his deep commitment to social justice and activism, sees ‘Hotel Costiera’ as a welcome balance to his more serious work. “So much of my work is social justice-related, serious, and important. It has an urgency to it, but in the pursuit of balance and harmony in my life, I also wanted to do something light and fun and just relax,” he stated. He encourages viewers to embrace the show’s elements of joy, beauty, action, comedy, and family drama as a form of purposeful escapism, especially in today’s challenging world.

Williams’ career, which includes acclaimed roles in “Grey’s Anatomy” and Broadway, has always been intertwined with his passion for community and advocacy. As a former public high school teacher, his real-life experiences and consciousness have deeply influenced his choices, both on and off-screen. “Just because there’s a camera now, don’t mean I’m going to change… So I was who I was already before I started acting,” he explained. “And the choices that I make, it’s about what’s pushing us forward, stories that are interesting and showing a whole panoply of representations of what it is to exist for folks in my community.”

Advice for Young People: Read and Connect

When asked for advice for young people, Williams strongly recommended reading, specifically suggesting “The African Origin of Civilization” by Cheikh Anta Diop to encourage self-education and a deeper understanding of history. He also stressed that activism isn’t solely the responsibility of those in the public eye. “I don’t think that just because you can dunk or act or sing, you have more responsibility to care about your people, than if you’re a plumber or a teacher or a window washer,” he stated. “We’re all members of this community. We should all live, and love, and especially us, we got to look out for each other.”

  • Woman Charged After Vandalizing Drake’s NYC Store

A woman has been officially charged following a destructive rampage inside Drake’s flagship October’s Very Own (OVO) store in New York City. The incident, which involved smashing windows and damaging merchandise, resulted in substantial losses for the luxury brand.

    The Hammer-Smashing Spree

Shauna Stoner, a 31-year-old from Queens, was arrested by the NYPD on Tuesday, August 27th. Witnesses reported that Stoner entered the Manhattan store, dressed in a denim jacket and carrying a pink Telfar bag. She allegedly began by spraying an unidentified fluid on the merchandise before using a knife to cut up clothing items.

The vandalism escalated when Stoner proceeded to knock over clothing racks and then used a hammer to smash the store’s windows. She was captured on video during the window-smashing incident. According to sources close to the store, Stoner appeared to act randomly and had no known connection to the OVO brand.

    Charges and Damages

Stoner faces charges of attempted arson and criminal mischief. The total damages caused during the spree are estimated to be around $23,000. After exiting the store, witnesses described her demeanor as remarkably calm.

When apprehended by officers, someone off-camera warned them that Stoner possessed a knife. Her response was, “It was just to cut up his clothes that he stole. My designs.” This statement suggests a possible personal grievance, though no direct link to OVO has been established.

    Previous Vandalism Incidents

This isn’t the first time an OVO store has been targeted. Last year, the OVO store in London was vandalized with spray paint during Drake’s highly publicized beef with Kendrick Lamar. The message spray-painted on the Carnaby Street store referenced Lamar’s hit song, “Not Like Us.” No arrests were made in that incident.

Drake and his representatives have not yet commented on the recent vandalism incident in New York City.
