  • PA Man Arrested for Stalking Teen Influencer

A disturbing case of online harassment has led to an arrest in Florida. A 29-year-old man from Pennsylvania is facing multiple charges after allegedly stalking a 14-year-old social media influencer, bombarding her with explicit messages, and even showing up at her family’s home.

    A Trail of Disturbing Messages

The harassment reportedly began on May 26th when Jarred Easter allegedly started sending daily emails to the teen influencer. These messages included nude photos and sexually explicit content, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Some of the messages were particularly alarming, with Easter writing, “U HAV TO TELL ME Where U ARE?? & I WILL BE THERE. CUZ U SEXY AS F—,” and “WE ARE SOOO GONNA GET TOGETHER? U SUH SEXY, FRfr.”

Sheriff Michael Adkinson noted that the influencer herself never saw these messages. However, her father became aware of the extent of the harassment on June 10th and promptly contacted authorities.

    Confrontation at the Family Home

The situation escalated in August when Easter allegedly used the teen’s social media posts to track her location. He then traveled to her Florida home and confronted her father in the driveway, asking to meet the girl. The father refused and immediately alerted the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators were able to track Easter to a hotel in Crestview, where he was apprehended by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk online, even for young influencers.

    Charges and Consequences

Jarred Easter is now facing serious charges, including traveling to meet a minor for sex, sending harmful material to a minor, and stalking. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

  • Meta Chatbots Under Fire for Child Safety Failures

Uh oh, it looks like Meta is in hot water again, and this time it involves their AI chatbots and a serious concern for child safety. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are absolutely furious after internal documents revealed that Meta’s AI chatbot policies once permitted ‘romantic or sensual’ conversations with children. This is a major red flag for online safety!

    Lawmakers Demand Answers and Investigation

Senator Josh Hawley didn’t mince words, calling the situation “grounds for an immediate congressional investigation.” He’s even sent a letter directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, announcing that the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism will be launching a probe. Hawley stated, “It’s unacceptable that these policies were advanced in the first place.”

Other senators have echoed these strong sentiments. Senator Marsha Blackburn’s spokesperson confirmed her support for an investigation, with Blackburn herself declaring that Meta has “failed miserably by every possible measure” when it comes to protecting children online. Senator Brian Schatz took to social media, calling the chatbots that hit on kids “disgusting and evil,” while Senator Ron Wyden added that Meta is “morally and ethically off the rails.”

    Meta’s Response and Ongoing Concerns

Shelby Knox from ParentsTogether expressed deep concern, warning that Meta has created a “digital grooming ground” and that no child should ever be told “age is just a number” by an AI. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone has responded, stating the company has “clear policies” against sexualizing children and that the controversial examples were part of hypothetical scenarios that have since been removed.

However, this latest scandal only amplifies long-standing worries about the safety of children on Meta’s platforms. With AI becoming increasingly integrated into our digital lives, these issues are becoming even more critical. It’s a stark reminder of the responsibility tech companies have to ensure their platforms are safe for everyone, especially the youngest users.

  • Louisiana Sues Roblox Over Child Safety Concerns

Louisiana is taking a stand against the popular online gaming platform Roblox, filing a lawsuit that alleges the site fosters an environment where child predators can easily operate. Attorney General Liz Murrill claims that Roblox has failed to implement adequate safety measures, putting the children of Louisiana at risk. The lawsuit asserts that the company prioritizes user growth and profits over the well-being of its young users.

    Allegations of Inadequate Safety Protocols

The lawsuit highlights instances where predators have allegedly targeted minors on the platform. Murrill stated, “Roblox is overrun with harmful content and child predators because it prioritizes user growth, revenue, and profits over child safety.” This isn’t the first time Roblox has faced such accusations; a similar lawsuit was filed in Iowa after a 13-year-old girl was reportedly groomed and trafficked across state lines after being contacted by an adult predator on the platform.

In Louisiana, local law enforcement has also reported cases linked to Roblox. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard mentioned that his office has investigated incidents where individuals have allegedly used voice-altering technology to pose as children on the platform. Unfortunately, no arrests have been made in connection with these specific gaming site cases yet.

    Roblox’s Response and Safety Measures

Roblox has firmly disputed the allegations, stating, “The assertion that Roblox would intentionally put our users at risk of exploitation is categorically untrue.” The company maintains that it has implemented rigorous safeguards, such as restrictions on sharing personal information and links, to protect its community. They acknowledge that bad actors attempt to circumvent these systems and continuously work to enhance their moderation practices.

While Roblox aims to prevent users from sharing personal details like phone numbers and doesn’t allow children under 13 to chat outside of games without parental consent, the lawsuit points out that age verification processes are not robust. The company is reportedly testing new features, including a video selfie verification for teenagers aged 13-17 to enable “trusted connections.” Additionally, Roblox has been rolling out an AI system to help detect potential child endangerment, which has led to over 1,200 reports of attempted child exploitation being submitted in the first half of 2025.
