Big news from the world of morning television! Former GMA3 co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have officially announced their engagement. The couple shared the exciting update on their joint podcast, “Amy & T.J.,” letting their listeners in on the happy news.
A Joyful Announcement
“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for just about a month now,” Robach revealed to her audience. Holmes chimed in, adding, “We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to. We’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship.”
This announcement comes about three years after their relationship first made headlines. Dating rumors began to swirl in November 2022 when they were photographed together, appearing quite close, despite both being married to other people at the time. Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue, and Holmes was married to attorney Marilee Fiebig, though both maintained they were separated.
Keeping the Ring a Secret
The couple shared some lighthearted moments about keeping the engagement under wraps. “You’ve been dangling a ring in everybody’s face every chance you could, and nobody said a word,” Holmes joked. Robach recounted her attempts to subtly show off her new bling.
“I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, and kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what’s that?’ And it never happened,” she said. “And if people saw it, maybe they were just being polite.”
A Near Social Media Reveal
Robach even admitted she almost spilled the beans online before they were ready. “I went to post a picture on social media,” she recalled. However, Holmes intervened, gently reminding her of the prominent ring in the photo and the potential implications.
Ultimately, Robach decided against posting it, explaining, “I didn’t want that to be what the photo was about.” They clearly wanted to control the narrative and share their happy news on their own terms, through their podcast.
