Courtney Kemp Joins Apple TV+ After ‘Nemesis’ Success

Get ready for more gripping stories! Courtney A. Kemp, the brilliant mind behind the wildly popular “Power” universe and the recent Netflix hit “Nemesis,” is making a major move. She’s just signed a multiyear overall deal with Apple TV+, signaling an exciting new chapter for the Emmy-nominated creator and her production company, End of Episode.

From Netflix Success to Apple’s Vision

This announcement comes at a peak moment for Kemp. Her co-created crime drama “Nemesis,” set in Los Angeles, is currently dominating the charts, holding the No. 1 spot not only in the U.S. but also in 15 other countries on Netflix. It’s a testament to her knack for crafting high-stakes, compelling narratives that captivate audiences worldwide.

Kemp expressed her enthusiasm for the new partnership, stating, “I’m so grateful to Zack [Van Amburg], Jamie [Erlicht] and Matt [Cherniss] for welcoming me to the Apple family.” She added that Apple’s “impeccable taste and strong support for their creators’ visions” make it the ideal platform for her next projects. She’s eager to bring her audience “hard-hitting, high-stakes, multilayered stories that uplift the culture, yet reach beyond to universal viewership.”

A Legacy of Storytelling

Kemp’s career is a significant study in Black television. She built the expansive “Power” universe from the ground up over nearly a decade on Starz, spawning four successful spinoffs: “Power Book II: Ghost,” “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” “Power Book IV: Force,” and “Power: Origins.” Her move to Netflix in 2021 marked a new phase, with “Nemesis” being the first major project from that deal.

Now, with this move to Apple TV+, she’s bringing that incredible momentum and proven track record to her third major streaming home. Apple has also highlighted Kemp’s commitment to championing inclusion and creating opportunities for underrepresented voices within the industry, a value that resonates deeply.
