The retired world champion is asking the court for protection, seeking a restraining order against his own 25-year-old son, Daniel. Leonard claims years of alleged drug addiction have made their home environment unsafe for the entire family.

Years of Alleged Addiction and Dangerous Behavior

In court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the 70-year-old legend detailed a disturbing pattern of behavior from his son, Daniel, spanning at least seven to eight years. Leonard alleges that Daniel’s actions have escalated over time, involving theft, damage to family property, and even violent altercations.

The claims are severe: Daniel has allegedly trashed five family cars in the past year alone, repeatedly stolen from the family, and was involved in a hit-and-run. Most alarmingly, Leonard states Daniel has suffered four overdoses, with two requiring hospitalization to save his life.

Escalating Violence and Fear

Leonard’s filing paints a grim picture, stating, ‘He basically steals every day for years! His behavior has started to get violent.’ The situation reportedly came to a head on May 19th when police were called after Daniel allegedly pushed his father during a physical altercation described as ‘ugly.’

A temporary restraining order was issued following the incident, but Daniel was allegedly arrested the very next day for violating it. Leonard expressed his deep distress, writing, ‘I love my son but he has become a danger not only himself but to his family!’ He added that his wife is ‘extremely afraid’ and they haven’t had ‘a day of peace in 9 years.’

Leonard requested that Daniel be ordered to stay 100 yards away from him, his home, workplace, pets, vehicles, wife, and daughter, and be removed from the family residence. A judge has granted most of these requests, with a further hearing scheduled for next month.
