It seems Shia LaBeouf’s Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans took a turn for the worse! The actor, known for his roles in “Honey Boy” and “Transformers,” is now officially facing multiple charges stemming from an alleged bar brawl that occurred back on February 17th.
Three Counts of Simple Battery
The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office has formally charged LaBeouf, 39, with three misdemeanor counts of simple battery. This legal development follows an incident outside a bar in the French Quarter, a notoriously lively area during Mardi Gras festivities.
Initially, LaBeouf was arrested on two counts of simple battery. However, a subsequent arrest on February 28th added a third count to the charges he’s now facing. This suggests the situation was more complex than a single altercation.
Allegations from the Police Report
According to a New Orleans Police Department report, authorities claim LaBeouf was asked to leave a bar after causing a disturbance. The report alleges that he struck one person, left the scene, only to return and allegedly strike the same individual again. Furthermore, he is accused of assaulting a second person.
One of the alleged victims reportedly helped restrain LaBeouf until police arrived, describing the actor as being “screaming at everybody” and “lunging at” people. LaBeouf was taken to a hospital for unspecified injuries before his arrest upon release, as detailed in the police report.
LaBeouf’s Response and Current Status
Following his release from custody, LaBeouf posted “Free me” on X (formerly Twitter), indicating his perspective on the situation. He remains out on bond, subject to court-ordered release conditions. Interestingly, despite the events, LaBeouf has publicly stated he doesn’t believe he has a “drinking problem,” attributing his behavior to a “small man complex” in a recent podcast interview.
