It looks like Drake might be diving back into the rap battle arena! A newly leaked track, reportedly titled “1 AM In Albany,” has surfaced, and it’s packed with thinly veiled disses aimed at Kendrick Lamar and even basketball superstar LeBron James. This leak suggests Drake isn’t quite done settling scores from the epic 2024 beef.
Shots Fired at Kendrick Lamar
The intense feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar dominated headlines for much of 2024. After Kendrick’s powerful verses on tracks like “Like That” and his apparent knockout blow with “Not Like Us,” Drake had largely gone quiet. However, this leaked song hints that the OVO rapper is back on the offensive.
One particularly pointed line seems to compare Kendrick to Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player in NBA history. Drake raps, “Muggsy Bogues dunked for once, even I’m a bit amazed, someone give the kid a raise.” This subtle jab is seen as a dismissive remark about Kendrick’s stature in the rap game.
Questioning LeBron James’ Loyalty
The lyrical jabs don’t stop at Kendrick. LeBron James also catches some heat on the track. Drake questions the basketball icon’s loyalty, rapping, “I shouldn’t even be shocked to see you in that arena, because you always made your career off of switching teams up.”
He further emphasizes this point, stating, “Please stop asking what’s going on with 23 & me, I’m a real n*gga, and he’s not, it’s in my DNA.” This suggests Drake feels LeBron has been disloyal or has changed allegiances, impacting their relationship.
Other Potential Targets
Rumors also suggest that Joe Budden might be a target, with lyrics referencing someone “spasm[ing] with a puzzled face” and sleepwalking. Additionally, fans speculate that J. Cole may have received a jab with a reference to a “married rapper” who backed down from the beef.
This leaked track, if authentic, marks a significant escalation in the post-beef fallout. While Drake has previously hinted at moving on or seeking redemption, “1 AM In Albany” suggests he’s ready to re-engage and address lingering issues head-on. The hip-hop world will be watching closely to see if Drake officially addresses these lyrics or if this remains a leaked track.
