Reason Clarifies Kendrick Lamar ‘GNX’ Comments

Did Reason throw shade at Kendrick Lamar? Not so fast! The former TDE rapper recently found himself in the middle of online chatter after comments he made on The Bootleg Kev Podcast were seemingly misinterpreted. Let’s clear the air about what he actually said regarding Kendrick’s influential ‘GNX’ project.

Clarifying the ‘GNX’ Conversation

During his appearance on the podcast, Reason discussed how Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’ might have influenced the West Coast sound. While he praised Lamar’s ability to make any genre work and expressed his love for the 2024 project, he also noted that not everyone connected with that particular sound. This nuanced take was quickly twisted by some online pages.

When Bootleg Kev suggested that some featured artists and West Coast artists, in general, didn’t follow up with strong material post-‘GNX,’ Reason partially agreed. He remarked, “If Dot would’ve picked artists that are more consistent in their art to be on there, I feel like post-GNX would’ve went differently.” This comment, however, was misrepresented as a direct criticism of Kendrick’s artist curation.

Reason’s Response to Misinformation

Taking to Twitter, Reason directly called out a page that claimed he said Kendrick’s artist curation was poor and that Kendrick failed to fulfill his intentions with ‘GNX.’ “This tweet is SO FAR from what I actually said it’s sick,” Reason wrote. “The internet is a scary place because most ppl will not watch this video. They’ll just read this tweet and respond. Smh.”

It’s understandable how these kinds of misinterpretations can arise, especially given Reason’s past issues with his former label, TDE. Now enjoying an independent career, Reason is focused on his own music, including his recently released album ‘Moving Towards Love PINK’.

Focusing on His Own Path

While rumors of new Kendrick Lamar music continue to swirl, and fans might still debate the dynamics of past label situations, Reason is clearly prioritizing his artistic vision and ensuring his message is heard accurately. He’s making sure folks actually understand him, and there’s no disrespect intended.
