Will Smith has just scored a major legal victory! A lawsuit filed against the actor by his former touring violinist, Brian King Joseph, has been dismissed by a judge. This ruling comes several months after Joseph filed claims of sexual harassment and wrongful termination against the star.
The Allegations and Smith’s Defense
The lawsuit stemmed from an alleged incident in 2025 where Joseph claimed someone entered his Las Vegas hotel room and left a disturbing note signed “Stone F.” along with other items. Joseph alleged that Smith was attempting to groom him for sexual activity. Following this, Joseph claimed he was fired in retaliation, a charge that Will Smith vehemently denied.
Smith’s legal team immediately pushed back against the claims, with his lawyer Allen B. Grodsky stating the allegations were “false, baseless, and reckless” and “categorically denied.” They vowed to use all legal means to fight the accusations and reveal the truth.
Judge’s Ruling and Next Steps
On Tuesday, May 5th, the judge sided with Will Smith, dismissing the suit. The ruling stated that Joseph’s lawsuit did not meet the criteria for sexual harassment, as it “fails to adequately allege conduct that is sufficiently severe or pervasive.” Furthermore, the judge noted that the accuser hadn’t sufficiently proven that only Smith or his management had access to his hotel room, especially since his room key was left in a van with other crew members.
While the case has been dismissed, the judge did offer Brian King Joseph the opportunity to amend his complaint and attempt to rectify the issues that led to its dismissal. It remains to be seen whether Joseph will pursue this option and try to bring the case back to court.
