It’s been a busy week for rapper Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri. After turning himself in earlier this week on drug trafficking charges, he has now made an appearance in court and secured a bond. This comes after an incident in Orlando that reportedly occurred about six months ago.
Bond Granted, But With Conditions
During his court appearance, a judge set Kodak Black’s bond at $75,000. This amount reflects his prior criminal history, which includes 12 felony convictions. The rapper, who appeared in court in a jumpsuit with his legal team, must adhere to several strict conditions to remain out on bond.
- Stay away from the scene of the incident, the Children’s Safety Village.
- Refrain from contacting his co-defendants.
- Not possess or consume any drugs or controlled substances without a valid prescription.
- Not carry any firearms.
Kodak Black is currently being held at the Orange County Jail. The 28-year-old artist was reportedly at a non-profit organization in Orlando when police responded to reports of gunfire.
The Incident and Investigation
According to reports, police detected the smell of cannabis coming from a BMW and a Lamborghini at the scene. Investigators identified items, including scissors and rings, from Kodak Black’s Instagram page, which eventually led them to search the vehicle. Inside, they discovered drugs, resulting in charges for trafficking between 10 and 200 grams of MDMA.
This arrest has unfortunately reignited concerns about Kodak Black’s struggles with substance abuse. While he recently claimed to be sober, many have expressed skepticism. His legal team has sought drug treatment in the past, highlighting the ongoing challenges.
