75-Year-Old Graduates From University She Worked At

Talk about a true testament to lifelong learning! At 75 years old, Peggy E. Moore has officially earned her bachelor’s degree from Temple University. What makes this achievement even more remarkable? She’s dedicated the last 44 years of her career to working at the very same institution!

A Dream Deferred, Not Denied

Peggy’s journey with Temple began back in 1980 when she first enrolled, aiming to complete her bachelor’s degree after attending the Community College of Philadelphia. Life, as it often does, took her on a different path as she paused her education to raise her sons. However, the dream of graduating never faded.

Working at Temple provided a unique advantage: free tuition! This allowed Peggy to chip away at her degree, taking one to two classes each semester. She found joy in her studies, particularly in courses like risk management and insurance. When things got stressful, she’d simply take a short break before diving back in.

Finally ‘Temple Made’

Fast forward to 2026, and Peggy has officially earned her Bachelor of General Studies degree. She’s now part of the graduating class, proudly ‘Temple Made.’ She wasn’t just any graduate; she was the oldest in her class and one of only 62 individuals aged 75 or older to achieve a bachelor’s degree at Temple since its founding.

It means a whole lot to me. It’s something I’ve worked for throughout all these years and I’ve finally accomplished. — Peggy E. Moore

Her dedication and helpful spirit were recognized by former vice provost Dan Berman, who stated, ‘Temple is Peggy made. Anyone who walked into that office, she would really help. She would actually solve people’s problems, not just tell them how to do it.’

What’s Next for Peggy?

But Peggy isn’t stopping here! She’s already looking ahead, with plans to pursue a master’s degree, possibly in human resources administration. She intends to continue her employment at Temple and even plans to join the school’s AI task force. As she put it, ‘I don’t want to be left behind. I want to stay in the know.’

Isn’t Peggy’s story incredibly inspiring? What goals are you working towards, no matter your age? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
