Iggy Azalea is finding herself in hot water, facing a federal class-action lawsuit concerning her Solana-based meme token, MOTHER. Investors are alleging they were misled about the token’s promised utility, leading to significant financial losses.
Investors Claim Misleading Promises
According to court filings, investor Kenneth Kolbrak, representing himself and other buyers, claims that promises about MOTHER’s “real-world utility” never materialized. Attorneys for the plaintiffs emphasized that this isn’t just about typical cryptocurrency market fluctuations.
Instead, they argue it’s about a celebrity-driven promotion that convinced consumers to buy and hold the digital token based on specific, material representations that turned out to be unfulfilled.
The Alleged MOTHERLAND Ecosystem
The lawsuit details that Azalea promoted MOTHER as part of a larger business venture called MOTHERLAND. This alleged ecosystem was said to include an online casino, merchandise store, telecommunications company, and various entertainment projects. However, the complaint suggests that the MOTHERLAND casino ended up operating with traditional currency, not the MOTHER token itself.
Kolbrak specifically stated he invested after seeing claims about the token’s utility and would not have invested, or would have invested less, had he known these promises wouldn’t be kept. The lawsuit asserts, βThe only way MOTHER could have value was if other people wanted to buy it.β
Background on the MOTHER Token
Iggy Azalea launched the MOTHER token in May 2025, after distancing herself from another token, IGGY, which she claimed used her name without permission. The MOTHER token initially saw rapid success, reportedly reaching a market capitalization of $200 million within weeks of its launch.
As of the lawsuit’s filing, Iggy Azalea has not publicly commented on the allegations. This case raises important questions about celebrity endorsements and the responsibilities involved when promoting digital assets.
