Met Gala Stars Glow with Danessa Myricks Beauty

The Met Gala is always a spectacle of fashion, and this year was no exception! Beyond the breathtaking gowns, the makeup artistry truly brought the ‘Costume Art’ theme to life. We’re shining a spotlight on Danessa Myricks Beauty, the exclusive makeup partner for several iconic celebrities who absolutely slayed the red carpet.

Angela Bassett: A Vision of ‘Romantically Elegante’

Angela Bassett, ever the icon, graced the Met Gala in a stunning pink Prabal Gurung gown. Her makeup, crafted by D’Andre Michael, was a masterclass in understated glamour. He aimed for a “ROMANTICALLY ELEGANTE” look, focusing on soft pinks and radiant golds for a luminous, sophisticated glow.

The look featured delicate eye warmth and subtle rhinestones for a touch of sparkle. Michael utilized a range of Danessa Myricks Beauty products, including the Yummy Skin line, Vision Flush, and the Groundwork Palette, to achieve this refined, glowing finish. Bassett’s ensemble was reportedly inspired by the 1927 painting ‘Girl in a Pink Dress’ by Laura Wheeler Waring, a beautiful nod to Black portraiture and elegance.

Keke Palmer: Bold Monochromatic Red

Keke Palmer brought the heat in a fiery monochromatic red Prabal Gurung gown. Her makeup artist, Kenya Alexis, perfectly complemented the look with a bold yet refined red aesthetic. The goal was a soft, matte skin finish with a dewy highlight to add dimension.

Alexis used several Danessa Myricks Beauty favorites, including the Yummy Skin Mattifying Water Powder Serum, Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed in ‘Red Velvet’ for blush, and the Yummy Skin Liquid Blurring Balm Mattifying Setting Spray. The result? A flawless face that was truly a 1000 out of 10!

Aurora James: Graphic Eye Artistry

Aurora James transformed the Met Gala carpet into her personal canvas, wearing a striking vintage Emanuel Ungaro black-and-white gown. Makeup artist Meghan Nguy created a look that was both timeless and avant-garde, mirroring the gown’s dramatic flair.

Nguy achieved a velvet-matte base with the viral Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder and a seamless finish with the Lift & Flex Hydrating Concealer. A pop of color came from Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed in ‘Jubilee’ on the cheeks. The true statement, however, was the high-contrast, graphic eye makeup, using Colorfix Mattes in ‘Blackout’ and Colorfix Nudes in ‘Nude #8’ for a bold, artistic expression.
