It seems rapper Lil Zay Osama is facing another serious legal challenge. The 28-year-old artist, known for his music, has reportedly been indicted on federal kidnapping and robbery charges. This latest indictment adds to a history of legal troubles the Chicago performer has encountered throughout his career.
Federal Indictment Details Home Invasion Allegations
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Lil Zay Osama, whose real name is Isaiah Johnson, is one of six men named in a federal indictment. The charges stem from an alleged home invasion that took place in Winnetka, Illinois, back in March. The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros’ office.
Prosecutors claim the group targeted a residence, demanding access to specific items including a computer, online cryptocurrency accounts, and a safe. Reports suggest that one of the suspects posed as a food delivery driver before the entire group allegedly entered the home at gunpoint.
Who Else is Facing Charges?
The indictment names five other individuals alongside Lil Zay Osama: Khiell Dukes, Anthony Ramsey, Dashun Brown, David Franklin, and Jalen Chambers. Notably, Khiell Dukes is identified as Lil Zay Osama’s brother, and Anthony Ramsey is his half-brother. Another individual was reportedly arrested on April 28th with charges pending.
Investigation and Potential Penalties
This investigation was a collaborative effort involving the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Winnetka Police Department. U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros stated that swift federal action helped disrupt the alleged criminal conspiracy and remove dangerous individuals from the streets.
If convicted of these charges, the suspects could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. All six men have reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges. Lil Zay Osama is scheduled to appear in court again on May 12th.
A History of Legal Battles
This isn’t the first time Lil Zay Osama has been in legal hot water. In 2022, he was convicted of misdemeanor unlawful possession of a firearm. The following year, he faced a felony charge of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer after a car chase.
Furthermore, in 2024, he pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal machine gun in New York City and received a 14-month prison sentence. These past incidents highlight a pattern of legal challenges that have followed the rapper’s career.
