Actor Samuel Monroe Jr. On Life Support After Misdiagnosis

It’s a heartbreaking situation for fans of 90s cinema. Samuel Monroe Jr., known for his roles in films like ‘Menace II Society’ and ‘Set It Off,’ is currently on life support after being diagnosed with MRSA pneumonia. His family reveals he had been suffering from a severe misdiagnosis for months, leading to a critical decline in his health.

A Battle Against Misdiagnosis

According to TMZ and Monroe’s wife, Shawna Stewart, the actor contracted meningitis about 18 months ago while filming in Las Vegas. Despite seeking help at several hospitals, his condition was repeatedly misdiagnosed. This negligence meant the meningitis went untreated for eight months, allowing the infection to spread aggressively to his spine and brain.

The situation escalated, and on April 28, Monroe was diagnosed with MRSA. By the time the meningitis was correctly identified, the infection had already caused significant damage. His mother, Joyce Patton, took to Facebook to share the news and ask for prayers, writing, “Please pray for Samuel Monroe Jr. my son who is now on life support. God don’t make no mistakes but he is gracious and I am humbly asking for his mercy and grace for Sam.”

Support for Medical Expenses

The medical journey has been long and costly for the family. Shawna’s daughter, Tayonna Stewart, has set up a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $50,000 to help cover the extensive medical expenses incurred over the past nine months, as well as future healthcare costs. Samuel and Shawna have two children together, Kingston, 12, and Brooklynn, 11, who are also facing this difficult time.

Monroe Jr. has a notable filmography, appearing in iconic 90s movies such as ‘Menace II Society,’ ‘Tales from the Hood,’ and ‘The Players Club,’ among others. His family and friends are rallying around him, hoping for his recovery.
