Petition Demands D4vd’s Music Be Removed

In the wake of disturbing allegations and charges against artist D4vd, a movement is gaining momentum to hold him accountable. An organization called Industry Blackout has launched a petition aiming to remove all of D4vd’s music from streaming platforms. This initiative seeks to address systemic issues within the music industry and highlight the devastating reality of femicide.

The Petition and Its Purpose

Industry Blackout, a collective focused on reforming inequities in the music world, is spearheading the petition on change.org. They argue that D4vd’s case is not an isolated incident but part of a larger, tragic pattern of femicide – the targeted killing of women and girls. The petition specifically references the allegations against D4vd, who is accused of murdering teenager Celeste Rivas.

The petition states, “Prosecutors allege D4VD sexually abused Celeste for over a year, beginning when she was 13, then killed her specifically to protect his career. That is femicide.” It calls on music streaming platforms to exercise their terms of service and value statements by removing D4vd’s music while the legal proceedings are ongoing.

Serious Charges and Industry Response

D4vd faces a multitude of serious charges following his arrest, including first-degree murder with special circumstances like lying in wait, murder for financial gain, and murder of a witness. He is also charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. These allegations paint a grim picture and have led to the loss of partnerships with Sony Music and The·Team.

The petition has already garnered significant support, with over 2,400 signatures and even a co-sign from California Governor Gavin Newsom. This growing traction highlights a demand for accountability within the entertainment industry, especially when serious crimes are alleged against artists who have been given a public platform.
