The Grammy-nominated singer has filed a lawsuit accusing his ex-wife, Julie McKnight, his son, Brian McKnight Jr., podcasters Marc Lamont Hill and Tasha K, and the New York Post of engaging in a coordinated effort to ruin his reputation.

Accusations of Character Assassination

At the heart of the lawsuit are allegations of “malicious character assassination” aimed at damaging McKnight’s public image. The suit claims that the defendants have spread false narratives, including accusations that McKnight abandoned his children and, specifically, that he refused to tell his dying son, Niko, that he loved him. McKnight asserts that these claims have significantly harmed his reputation.

Specific Claims Against Tasha K

The lawsuit specifically targets podcaster Tasha K, alleging she falsely reported that McKnight was a cheater and had engaged in sexual relations with a minor. McKnight claims these persistent and relentless attacks on his character have left him no choice but to seek legal recourse and damages.

Previous Legal Battles

This isn’t the first time McKnight has faced serious allegations. In May 2025, he also accused singer Jaguar Wright of spreading salacious claims online, including accusations of hiring and mistreating prostitutes and being abusive toward his ex-wife, Julie, who Wright identified as her cousin. McKnight has denied these claims and stated that Wright has been evading legal service.
