Get ready to saddle up! It’s been almost two years since Shaboozey dropped his last album, but he’s gearing up to take us on a wild ride with his brand-new concept album, ‘The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales.’ Set to arrive on July 31, this project promises a deep dive into a revenge-fueled narrative straight out of the Wild West.
A Journey Through Revenge and Redemption
The trailer for the album offers a glimpse into this cinematic world, showing Shaboozey watching a Western town burn to the ground. A voiceover hints at the heavy cost of vengeance, setting the stage for a story filled with intriguing characters. This album marks a shift from his previous work, ‘Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going,’ which he described as a personal journal.
“Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going was a journal entry and an opportunity for the world to get to know more about me as a person,” Shaboozey explained in a statement. “That album changed my life. I never expected people to connect with the album and enjoy it the way they did. But now I want to show the world who I am as an artist and storyteller.”
Meet Cherie Lee: The Heart of the Story
The lead single, “Born to Die,” is set to drop this Friday, April 24, serving as our first taste of the album’s musical landscape. Shaboozey revealed that ‘The Outlaw Cherie Lee’ has been in the works for years, evolving through various stages. The core of the project is a Western tale of revenge, intricately woven through each song and centered around the character Cherie Lee.
This narrative explores timeless Western themes like revenge, redemption, and romance, all seen through the eyes of a protagonist who begins to question her own beliefs. “I poured all of myself into this and I hope people become as immersed in the world and the journey as I have,” Shaboozey shared. “This album was a promise to myself and something, no matter what, I had to keep.”
Pushing Creative Boundaries
Shaboozey emphasized how this project pushed his songwriting and storytelling abilities to new heights. While the full tracklist and any potential features remain under wraps, fans can anticipate a rich and immersive experience. His previous collaborations include notable artists like Noah Cyrus, Jelly Roll, Burna Boy, and even Beyoncé, hinting at the caliber of talent he attracts.
