Dakota Mortensen Speaks Out After Taylor Frankie Paul Avoids Charges

Following the news that prosecutors will not pursue charges against his ex-girlfriend, Taylor Frankie Paul, in relation to domestic violence allegations, Dakota Mortensen has finally broken his silence. He took to Instagram to share his thoughts and outline his path forward.

Focusing on His Son

Mortensen began his statement by explaining that he’s taken time away from the “chaos” to gain clarity. “Over the past several weeks, I’ve taken a step back and had time away from the chaos,” he wrote. “That space has been a breath of fresh air and has given me clarity.” His primary focus, he emphasized, is now on their 2-year-old son, Ever.

“My focus now is where it should have been all along on my son and creating a stable, healthy environment for him moving forward,” Mortensen continued. He also acknowledged his own role in the relationship’s difficulties, stating, “I’m not perfect, and I take accountability for my part.” He offered a sincere apology to those he may have hurt.

Disagreement with Public Narrative

While Mortensen is taking accountability, he also expressed that the public presentation of the situation doesn’t fully align with his experience. “It does not reflect the full context of what occurred or the impact it has had on me and my son,” he wrote. This statement comes just days after the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office announced they would not be filing charges against Paul.

The decision not to press charges was reportedly due to some allegations falling outside the statute of limitations and a lack of sufficient evidence for others. Mortensen had previously claimed an incident where Taylor Frankie Paul allegedly assaulted him while he was holding their son. Reports indicate that due to the circumstances, Taylor is currently limited to six hours of supervised visits per week with Ever until their next court hearing.

Moving Forward

Mortensen concluded his statement by reiterating his commitment to fatherhood. “For now, my priority is on showing up as the best father I can be for Ever.” His words signal a desire to move past the public legal battles and concentrate on co-parenting and providing stability for their young son.
