Star-Studded Collaborations Revealed
Rashad took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the official artwork and tracklist for ‘It’s Been Awful.’ The project boasts a total of 16 songs, promising over 54 minutes of new music. What’s got fans particularly hyped are the confirmed collaborations with none other than SZA, Dominic Fike, and Julian Sintonia.
The response in the comments section was immediate and overwhelmingly positive. Fans expressed their long-held anticipation, with one user writing, ‘FINALLY DUDE I BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THE NEXT DROP.’ Another perfectly captured the sentiment, adding, ‘I was thinking the other day shit really has been awful… until now!’
The Inspiration Behind ‘It’s Been Awful’
Rashad first teased ‘It’s Been Awful’ with a trailer earlier this month, officially announcing the release date as May 1, 2026. He’s spoken about the project’s influences previously, citing artists like Fousheé and Prince as major inspirations. He mentioned having Prince’s ‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’ on repeat for months.
He also pointed to Atlanta artists PLUTO and BunnaB for the latter half of the project, noting a sonic direction that leans into the experimental sounds of Outkast’s ‘Stankonia’ and ‘The Love Below.’ Rashad expressed gratitude for the creative freedom he was given, suggesting Top Dawg Entertainment made compromises to support his artistic vision.
Touring Plans and Live Band
Looking ahead, Rashad hinted at plans for a supporting tour, expressing a desire to perform with a live band. He recalled a positive experience doing so in Europe, working with drummer Tony Royster Jr., whom he described as one of the most talented drummers he’s ever seen. This suggests a potentially dynamic and engaging live show for fans.
