Lamar Odom is setting the record straight regarding a sensitive part of his past. He’s publicly disputed claims made by his ex-wife, Khloé Kardashian, about his late father’s actions during his critical 2015 overdose.
A Disputed Recollection of Events
In the new Netflix documentary “Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom,” Kardashian recounted arriving at the hospital to find Lamar’s father, Joe Odom, present. She claimed Joe expressed a desire to have Lamar taken off life support, seemingly believing he was in charge of medical decisions and potentially the beneficiary.
Kardashian described the scene as “out of a movie,” recalling telling Joe, “Sorry, Joe. I’m still his wife. What do you need?” She also mentioned giving Joe money and a hotel room before he left and never returned. However, Lamar Odom, who was unconscious at the time, disagrees with this version of events.
Odom’s Defense of His Father
Speaking on “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle,” Odom stated, “I was knocked out and asleep at that time, but if you know Joe Odom, I don’t think that’s something that would ever come out of his mouth.” He firmly believes his father was his “biggest fan” and couldn’t fathom him making such a request.
Joe Odom passed away in 2021. Following his father’s death, Lamar shared a poignant message on social media, encouraging others to mend family ties. He reflected on their differences but emphasized the underlying love they shared, highlighting the importance of making amends because “NOTHING is promised but death.”
Reflections on Life and Family
Lamar Odom’s perspective offers a different emotional layer to the events surrounding his overdose. His insistence on his father’s love and support, despite any past conflicts, underscores the complex nature of family relationships, especially under extreme duress. His message about cherishing loved ones and resolving issues resonates deeply.
