It all started when Cardi B received an immediate alert for a massive $40,000 purchase at Saks. Because her American Express card is linked directly to her phone, she gets instant notifications for every single transaction, whether she’s shopping online or grabbing something at the corner store. This real-time tracking proved to be the scammers’ downfall.
Initially, Cardi B thought maybe someone on her team had made a purchase. However, her suspicions were quickly confirmed when another alert popped up just 35 minutes later for a $20,000 purchase at the Apple Store. That’s when she knew something was seriously wrong.
