A serious legal development has emerged involving prominent figures in the rap scene. According to a criminal complaint filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ), Gucci Mane has reportedly identified his 1017 Records artist, Pooh Shiesty, as one of the masked suspects involved in an armed kidnapping and robbery that occurred in Dallas two months prior. This incident allegedly took place on January 10, 2026.
Arrests and Federal Charges
The complaint details that Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., along with his father Lonnie Williams Sr., rapper Big30 (Rodney Wright Jr.), and six other men, have been federally charged with armed kidnapping and robbery. Authorities apprehended some of the individuals in Dallas, while others were taken into custody in Memphis, Tennessee. The DOJ identified the other alleged co-conspirators as Kedarius Waters, Terrance Rodgers (not yet arrested), Damarian Gipson, Demarcus Glover, Kordae Johnson, and Darrion McDaniel.
United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Ryan Raybould, stated that the nine men allegedly traveled to Dallas with the intent to kidnap and rob victims who believed they were attending a business meeting. Pooh Shiesty reportedly arranged this meeting under the guise of discussing his recording contract terms.
The Alleged Incident Inside the Studio
What began as a supposed business discussion quickly escalated into violence once the men were inside the recording studio. According to the DOJ, Shiesty allegedly brandished an AK-style pistol and forced a victim to sign a release from his recording contract at gunpoint. His alleged accomplices also reportedly drew firearms, proceeding to rob other victims of valuable items including Rolex watches, jewelry, and cash.
The complaint further alleges that one victim was choked to the point of near unconsciousness. Photos included in the DOJ’s complaint reportedly show the injuries sustained by the victims, surveillance footage stills, and screenshots of suspects allegedly posting the stolen items online. Gucci Mane reportedly identified Pooh Shiesty by describing him as wearing a “black Nike brand ‘shiesty’ mask, black hooded shirt, and black pants during gate offense.”
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
This unfolding situation highlights the serious allegations faced by the artists and their associates. The DOJ’s complaint lays out a detailed account of the alleged events, with Gucci Mane’s identification playing a crucial role in the charges against Pooh Shiesty. The investigation and subsequent arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing legal scrutiny within the music industry.
